First couple days in Wisconsin. Met up with a friend who owns Quest's full sister, Nia. It was a fun couple days hunting with Denver and her pups from our C Litter.

We had a few firsts for Quest. She pointed her first grouse and retrieved to hand. She also started honoring other dog's points. She is really starting to understand this grouse hunting thing. So proud of Quest!

Fall is in the air and the puppies are feeling festive.

This time next year these puppies will be going on their first true hunting season. Excited for the families getting a pup from our F litter!

Our F litter is enjoying their time outside exploring. 6 weeks old hits a little different. You can see them developing individual personalities and boy do they run around!

Big plans for this year. Counting down the days.. But we are ready to hit the road and explore new places. Michigan, Washington State and South Dakota are on the list this year. New bird species, new friends and great times with the dogs doing what we love.

Canyon ran the NAVHDA Gun Dog Test today and received a Prize 1 max score 168. She ran the test like a Utility run. Very proud of her! Thank you to everyone who has helped me with training this year and thank you to Shenango Chapter of NAVHDA. I'm looking forward to more fun training next year!

Side note:
Canyon was training and preparing for the Utility test. I decided to run her in GDT. She has been doing great with duck search. A couple runs leading up to the test took two sends.. so I decided to switch her. It was a good choice because then nature called 1 week before the test and she came into heat. Haha. She was a little off today but gave it her all considering.

Yesterday evening I get home from the regional event, and then off I go to do duck search with Canyon.

Canyon has been showing such great progress. Last session didn't go the best but I think she was having an off day. That is one thing we have to keep in mind when training dogs, they have off days just like us. But I am very happy with how she has been doing. Ended up a 15 minute duck search where she covered far to the right and left that isn't in this video. She found the duck on land and retreived to a sitting heel. I still have been letting her see the duck, walking her out of sight and bringing her back then sending her. I'll have to try one without letting her see anything this week. That will determine if she is ready for the test...
