Yesterday evening I get home from the regional event, and then off I go to do duck search with Canyon.

Canyon has been showing such great progress. Last session didn't go the best but I think she was having an off day. That is one thing we have to keep in mind when training dogs, they have off days just like us. But I am very happy with how she has been doing. Ended up a 15 minute duck search where she covered far to the right and left that isn't in this video. She found the duck on land and retreived to a sitting heel. I still have been letting her see the duck, walking her out of sight and bringing her back then sending her. I'll have to try one without letting her see anything this week. That will determine if she is ready for the test...

I hosted my first Regional event for the Small Munsterlander Club of America. The morning started with some delicious coffee from our friends who own .dog.coffee.co coffee. Then we headed right into a jam packed day!

In the morning everyone did a field run with chukar. And while waiting their turn we had duck and raccoon drags. During lunch Lee Corbin gave a quick presentation on AKC Hunt Tests and the we drew names for a fun raffle. After lunch we had a couple folks discuss steadiness training and obedience tips. Then the rest of the day was all about duck search. A very eventful day with lots of great dog work!

Thank you to everyone who helped me plan this event and kept the day moving. I couldn't have done this without your help. It was a well attended event with 36 people and 25 dogs running! I hope to see everyone at our next event!

We welcomed our F Litter out of Nikki x Jax on August 20th. Nikki had 10 beautiful puppies! There are 8 females and 2 males.

We decided on a Disney princess theme with all the females in the litter and then the 2 boys we chose Disney movies with the main character as a male. Here is Mulan, Merida, Cinderella, Raya, Rapunzel, Pocahontas, Ariel, Belle, Hercules and Tarzan.

We had two D litter puppies test in natural ability yesterday. Congratulations to Carly and Ethan for getting Prize 1, 112 max scores!!

We are proud of you both and look forward to getting updates this hunting season!

Canyon working on her duck search. She has come a long way! This is her searching on the resend. Found first duck at about 8 minutes, but also I am having her resend each time to get used to going out twice. Her resend was about the same amount of time. Crossed the pond then crossed back over and found the duck in this location.

Still getting a little help if needed, this time needed a duck call on resend. Biggest thing I've learned is moving too fast or jumping ahead can set a dog back. And duck search is best done with help! Always thankful for my NAVHDA group!

And the last of our E litter headed home today! Buckwood's Evening Star (Sadie) stayed with us for 2 months in training. I hope she does well in her new home and look forward to updates!!

It was challenging with two puppies, as we kept a female as well, Ravine. But we managed! Haha. Kept them separate for 2 months and trained two puppies... Everything we do for our starting process x2! Lol. We'll miss you, Sadie!

Getting these girls ready for hunting season!

Working on some yard work as refreshers for Canyon and Denver. They have been doing great but want to step back then we'll hit the field again soon. Canyon will be testing in NAVHDA Utility in September as well.

Quest is just starting some steadiness work. Working on getting her more steady for safety and shots on wild birds. Just bumpers for now. We'll progress to dead birds and then live birds. She has a lot of prey drive so taking it slow and getting her solid on this before moving to next step.

These sessions went really well, I'll be amping it up so I can make some corrections. Happy with the progress!
