🐾 MEET KATE! 🐾

If you’ve seen Dr. Emily out on the road, there’s a good chance you’ve seen Kate riding right alongside her! 🚐💚

Kate is one of our amazing veterinary assistants, but that title doesn’t begin to cover everything she brings to Traveling Tails.

Animals have been a huge part of Kate’s life for as long as she can remember. At home, she has quite the crew of her own — goats, turkeys, a goose, cats, dogs AND a mini horse! 🐐🦃🪿🐱🐶🐴 So when we say she’s an animal person… we REALLY mean it.

Kate has also been a groomer since 2002, giving her more than two decades of hands-on experience working closely with animals. One of her greatest strengths is her ability to read an animal’s body language and behavior. She knows when to slow down, when to give them space, and how to help an anxious pet feel safer. That ability is incredibly valuable during our in-home visits, especially with pets who find veterinary care stressful.

But what makes Kate truly special is her heart. ❤️ She treats our patients with the same love, patience, and compassion she gives her own animals.

She also shares our huge passion for rescue and helping animals in need. Whether it’s giving an animal a little extra patience, helping one feel safe, or stepping up for a pet who needs someone in their corner, Kate is always ready to help. 🐾❤️

And while she brings plenty of compassion to the team, she also brings a whole lot of fun. 😂 Kate is silly, always up for a laugh, and has a way of keeping everyone smiling — even on the long and crazy days. There’s definitely never a dull moment when Kate is around!

Outside of Traveling Tails, she’s also a wonderful mom to her two human kids, Adam and Evan, and an incredible friend.

And on a personal note — Traveling Tails wouldn’t be where it is today without Kate. She has been there helping from the beginning of this journey, and I couldn’t be more grateful to have such a hardworking, compassionate, hilarious, animal-loving person riding alongside me.

So the next time you see Kate hop out of the van with Dr. Emily, make sure you say hi! 👋🐾

What an amazing day at the Frankfort Fall Fest Parade! 🍂🐾

We loved seeing so many smiling faces and feeling the incredible support from our community. A huge thank-you to all our wonderful friends and family who walked alongside Traveling Tails and helped make the day so special—we couldn’t have done it without you!

And an extra-special thank-you to Pretzel and Hank, our adorable parade pups, for representing Traveling Tails like true professionals! 🐶💙

🐾 The BEST girl award goes to Bailey! 💕

Sweet Bailey unfortunately broke her foot in four places 😢, but you would never know it from that happy face!

She was an absolute rockstar for her exam, X-rays, and splinting. Her tail was wagging the whole time, and she soaked up all the love and attention while we got her comfortable and that little foot protected. 🩷🦴

We’re wishing this brave girl a smooth and speedy recovery! And can we take a moment to appreciate how cute her bright pink splint turned out?! 💕🐾

Feel better soon, Bailey! You were the best girl! 🥰

🐾 What can you expect from a Traveling Tails house call? 🏡🐶🐱

One of the biggest benefits of mobile veterinary care is that we come to your pet, where they already feel most comfortable. And every visit looks a little different because every pet is different!

Our goal is always to do whatever is easiest and least fearful for both the pet and their family. 💜

Most of the time, we’ll try to do everything right in your home—or even outside or in the backyard if that’s your pet’s happy place! We also have the option of performing exams in our mobile clinic, but whenever possible, we try to limit trips into the truck so we can continue reducing the stress and fear associated with veterinary care.

🍪 We don’t rush. Before we start an exam, vaccines, nail trim, bloodwork, or whatever your pet may need, we give them time to get to know us. That usually means lots of treats, love, patience, and letting them approach things at their own pace.

🐱 And what about cats?
Some cats are perfectly happy hanging out with us wherever they normally spend their time. More nervous kitties often do better in a smaller, quiet, closed room where there are fewer places to hide and less commotion. We’ll work with you to figure out what makes your cat feel safest.

There isn’t one “right” way to do a house call. The right way is whatever works best for your pet.

Our hope is that even if your pet is nervous during their visit, being in their own environment helps them feel safe again and return to their normal behaviors much sooner than they might after a traditional clinic visit. ❤️
