Cowtown Friends of Fort Worth Animal Care and Control To better address these needs, Cowtown Friends of FWACC was formed.

Cowtown Friends of FWACC is a 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to enriching and enhancing the lives of animals in the care of Fort Worth Animal Care & Control. In 2020, a committed group of Fort Worth Animal Care & Control (FWACC) volunteers recognized that there were certain needs above and beyond what the City of Fort Worth could fund. Cowtown Friends of FWACC is a non-profit organization

run by a volunteer board that is dedicated to enriching and enhancing the lives of animals in the care of FWACC. Thousands of dogs and cats are helped every year and this support is made possible through generous donors and committed volunteers. By raising these critical funds, Cowtown Friends of FWACC contributes to the health and wellbeing of Fort Worth’s homeless animals by funding life changing programs and services. We invite volunteers and the local community to be part of the effort, and if you are already a supporter, thank you for putting the animals first.

We are especially grateful for people like Meghan, who sees firsthand what Cowtown Friends means to the shelter and the people and pets who depend on it.

Every dollar donated to Cowtown Friends is DOUBLED right now, thanks to the incredible generosity of Fort Worth Animal Care & Control’s foster Danielle Kunkle Roberts and her dog, Ripley.

Danielle shared why she chose to give:

“Ripley is my soul dog and I always think about how she has been loved and treasured since she was 3 weeks old. There are so many dogs in the shelter who have never had an ounce of that in their lifetime. We donate to Cowtown Friends because they show kindness to the shelter pups during their stay at FWACC and give the dogs something to look forward to. It might be the first kindness they have ever experienced and it is vitally important to keeping happy and more adoptable. It is a great mission!”

This was made possible by a generous $1,000 matching gift from Joe and Kathy Cortopassi and their boy, Max. Because our community stepped up, their full match was unlocked and $1,000 became $2,000 for Fort Worth shelter animals.

We had the best time doing puppy yoga with Bumble Bee Yoga Community because yoga is even better when you have a room full of adorable, adoptable puppies from Fort Worth Animal Care & Control running around!

Even better, we got to do it for a good cause and support the dogs who need us most. There’s really no better combination than puppies, yoga, and giving back to the community.

A huge thank you to Bumblebee Yoga for helping make it such a fun and meaningful day, and to everyone who came out, cuddled a puppy, stretched, smiled, and supported the cause!
We’re already looking forward to the next one! 💛🐶🧘‍♀️

update: rest in peace sweet boy. We hate he didn’t get out of the shelter but at least his final chapter was with shelter, food, and surrounded by people that cared about him.

URGENT for sweet senior — RESCUE ONLY
Needs immediate help 💔

A0061664242 is a 10-year-old senior boy who arrived from the field in very poor condition. He needs confirmed rescue pickup by 9/6/2026.

He weighs just 44.6 lbs and is extremely thin (BCS 1–3) and dehydrated. He also has a mass on his front right shoulder, numerous lumps and bumps, green eye discharge, severe dental tartar, and his p***s is exposed outside of the sheath.

This sweet senior has clearly been through a lot and needs a rescue willing to give him the medical care, comfort, and support he deserves. He’s been easy to handle.

Please share with rescue organizations that may be able to save him.

One of our projects this past year was helping provide the supplies needed to create sensory gardens for the dogs at Fort Worth Animal Care & Control. Shelter staff knew these special spaces could be invaluable for the dogs—giving them opportunities to explore, sniff, engage their senses, build confidence, and simply enjoy being dogs outside of their kennels. We were more than happy to help make it happen!

🐾 Creating Better Spaces for Shelter Dogs to Play, Learn & Thrive 🐾

One of Cowtown Friends’ goals is to improve the outdoor spaces where dogs get to spend precious time out of their kennels and with volunteers.
One example is the play structures we purchased last year for both the Fort Worth Animal Care & Control Silcox and Henry Animal Campus locations.

These structures are used every single day and provide dogs with opportunities for enrichment, stimulation, exploration, and perhaps most importantly building confidence.

For a dog who may spend much of their day in a kennel, that time outside matters. Having interesting things to climb on, explore, and interact with helps make their time in the yard more engaging and gives our volunteers another way to connect with them.

And projects like these are only possible because of YOU. ❤️

Cowtown Friends is a small organization, but we’re committed to saying yes whenever we can to the needs of the animals at Fort Worth Animal Care & Control. Your donations allow us to continue funding the things that make a real difference in the daily lives of shelter animals.
