If your dog treats you like a jungle gym the second you sit down, it’s time to RETHINK your house rules.

The couch is your decompression area, your personal space, and not a free-for-all play zone.

The rule is simple: Invitation Only. When they are invited up, the energy needs to match the space. Calm, relaxed, and respectful. Stop letting your dog dictate the terms and start protecting your space!

Constantly running from your dog’s triggers doesn’t fix reactivity. It only validates it. Triage is necessary, but if your entire strategy is built on a “safe bubble,” your dog is never learning how to confidently exist.

Are you making these common handler errors on your walks? 🛑

It’s easy to fall into the trap of micromanaging your dog with a tight leash, but “dead tension” is your worst enemy. Constant pressure naturally builds the opposition reflex;which meanings the harder you pull, the harder they push or pull back.

Here is where we need to clean up our mechanics and our mindset:

1️⃣ Stop missing the engagement window. If you wait until your dog is already fixated and reacting, you’re too late. You have to ask for focus before they make the mistake.

2️⃣ Fix your tool mechanics. A prong collar is an incredibly effective communication tool, but sustained, upward pulling restricts air and traps your dog in a high-arousal state. Proper use requires slack and a crisp pop-and-release to break that fixation.
You have to step up and be the coach for your dog. You are out there to guide them through these situations, not just drag them past distractions.

Better engagement, better timing, and clear communication change everything. Let’s start setting our dogs up for success. 🐕‍🦺👟

The ball is the reward, but silence is the access to it. In this session, we’re teaching him to hold that high intensity and stay mentally present in a down-stay without the vocal pressure.

We use clear markers and fair corrections to show him that demand barking actually delays the fun. Calm focus is what earns the release.

This works in your homes as well. The barking for access to an item or person yields nothing! But cooperate obedience brings the rewards.

Discourage what you don’t want. Encourage what you do.
