I remember seeing John Anderson at local rodeos and fairs in the early ’80s, during those years when he toured with Merle Haggard and shared the stage with so many country artists.

Back then, you could walk right up as they stepped off their tour bus, say hello, and have a conversation. Some would even remember you from one rodeo to the next. I got to meet John and talk with him myself, and those are memories I’m glad to have.

I also remember seeing him in the Western episode of Walker, Texas Ranger with Lee Roy Parnell and Mark Collie, playing outlaw brothers in “Paradise Trail” in 1998.

An unmistakable voice, wonderful music, and memories that have stayed with me for more than forty years.

Rest in peace, John Anderson.

Texas !!!

Starting Wednesday, you'll notice a lot more horse trailers in town as we prepare to host the Extreme Cowboy Association World Finals next week. Competitors from Israel, Belgium, Canada, Australia and the United States will put their horsemanship skills to the test through challenging obstacles on a timed course.

FREE admission for spectators throughout the entire event! Bring the family and help us welcome these competitors to Glen Rose!

With horse trailers arriving and traveling around town, please give drivers extra room to turn and maneuver, especially near the fuel pumps. A little patience goes a long way toward keeping everyone safe!

Come cheer them on!
