It’s probably not what you think.
I’m not gonna give you any guru training advice.
Promise your horse will never leave your side EVER again.
Or even tell you how to train a liberty circle.
Here’s the thing. All of the tangible training advice is extremely important.
However, the only thing you can control 100% in any given moment is you.
Incidentally, when you’re in a training session with your horse, you are also who has the biggest impact on them.
It’s so easy to enter a session with all the worries of the day, stresses of work, and to do lists of tomorrow on your mind.
Unfortunately, this sabotages your focus with your horse. If you are holding onto anxious energy, your horse is going to be less drawn to you and you will be more prone to mistakes.
As you start your session. Try a couple of quick mindfulness exercises to get your focused and headspace aligned.
👉Run your fingers through your horses, mane or coat and focus on what their hair feels like between your fingers.
👉 Take a few intentional, deep breaths in and out. Then bring your attention to your horses breath.
👉 Close your eyes for a moment and hear the sounds of your barn or paddock.
👉 Look into your horses eyes and see if you can get a read on their expression and that moment.
Taking just one or two minutes to quickly run through these exercises has a huge impact on the way you can truly enjoy your horse AND the accuracy with which you train.
We desire and sometimes demand our horses entire focus, but how often are we going into our sessions completely and overwhelmingly distracted?🧠
Do you feel like your head is mostly clear when you work with your horse or is there always a lot going on up there??😅
Now. Good vibes and presence alone aren’t going to build the relationship you’re yearning for, that’s why I developed the Connected Liberty Pathway to bride the gap between desire and the communication skills needed between you and your horse. Comment CLP and I’ll DM you
