Emergency Fish Hook Removal!🎣

Byron came to Southwest Veterinary Urgent Care after swallowing a fishhook. X-rays confirmed the hook was lodged high in the back of his mouth/throat, with the barb embedded in the soft palate behind the larynx.

After a brief sedation, Dr. Wibel, Marisa, and our amazing team carefully removed the fishhook using a laryngoscope—preventing it from causing more serious injury. 💙

Another great example of teamwork and skilled care when pets need it most. 🐾🎣

On Tuesday, June 30, we’ll be closing at 4:00 PM so our amazing team can enjoy an afternoon of fun and team bonding!

🕗 Hours: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM June 30th

We’ll be back to our regular business hours on Wednesday, July 1, 8AM- 10PM ready to care for your pets.

Join us in congratulating SVUC’s vet assistant Maya on graduating with her Bachelor’s degree in Biology! 🎓

During her time in school, Maya completed a senior project focused on Fear, Anxiety, and Stress (FAS) scoring in patients alongside Dr. Stresemann, and support of SVUC staff - research that directly benefits the care we provide every day at SVUC. We are so proud of all of her hard work and excited that she’ll be continuing with us as a full-time assistant!

Congrats, Maya! We can’t wait to see all you accomplish. 🐾
