🐾💙HAPPY FRI-YAY GOTCHA DAY🐾💙
We are celebrating 18 amazing animals who found their forever homes this week! Our hearts are completely full because 🐶12 Dogs traded their shelter kennels for cozy couches and endless belly rubs and🐱6 Cats successfully chose their new humans and are already ruling their new kingdoms!

💛 Sully (aka Sultan) - adorable doodle puppy landed in the county shelter with a severe leg injury - he is all healed and back to his puppy antics with a new forever home
💛 Cedar - also landed at the county shelter with 3 littermates - siblings Oak, Natasha and Khalisie are still looking for their homes
💛 Hank and Boomer - our BIG boys of the week (!) - Both surrendered by their respective owners
💛 Bongo and Sanibel (and Vienna the cat!) – two more Ridgelan beagles put lab testing in the rear view - Sanibel even went home with a different kind of furry friend - feline Vienna
💛 Powder and Breezie - these beautiful pups are siblings - landed at a county shelter in ruff shape and now adopted together!
💛 Sunflower - found with mama and siblings as strays, they were brought to the county shelter - we were contacted and pulled them to safety - Tully, Clover and mama Rosa looking for homes
💛 Cooper - surrendered with several other dogs when owner passed away - he has an old eye injury, but his new family loves him just the way he is
💛 Dumpling and Iliana - both surrendered under different circumstances - Iliana was unknowingly pregnant (her sole puppy also has a forever home!)
💛 And our fabulous felines - April and Louisa (adopted together!), Hulk, Comet, Star and Vienna (pictured earlier with Sanibel the beagle!)

😌MAMA CHIQI AND HER SURVIVING NEWBORN PUPS – WE ARE HERE TO HELP YOU MAMA❤️‍🩹
A plea came to help this little mama and her tiny, vulnerable, newborn pups who landed at Miami Dade Animal Services. They were transported to us today and sadly a few passed even before transport could pick them up. Mama Chiqi is very underweight and doing her best for her 4 remaining puppies, but she needs a lot of help and we are going to give that to her. Hopefully together we can get all four over the hump and on their way to being healthy and strong. This little family will be with us awhile. Please consider a small donation for all they will need over the next several weeks (supplemental feeding supplies, kibble, vaccines, deworming, vetting and eventual spay/neuter, etc.):

❤️‍🩹UPDATE ON BALOO: HE’S LOST EVERYTHING HE LOVED, BUT HE IS HEALING SLOWLY❤️‍🩹

Baloo was found at a construction site in awful condition with his buddy Nala on Saturday. We were told they had a puppy with them that was taken. Then they disappeared for a few days and came back in horrible condition. They were both rushed to the hospital, but Nala couldn’t be saved due to advanced kidney failure. Baloo has lost what little he had in this world to live for – Nala and their puppy. He was in better condition than Nala, but malnourished, green nasal discharge, completely infested with parasites and fleas and carrying scars of a rough past. He is so completely terrified and exhausted physically and emotionally that it has taken until this morning to just get him to stand and walk. He remains at VCA Knowles Snapper Creek , but we are hopeful he can be released very soon to continue his healing journey with the safety and love he deserves.

THANK YOU for everyone who has rallied for Baloo (and Nala).

🐾30 DOGS STERILIZED YESTERDAY - TEAMWORK MAKES THE DREAMWORK🐾

A huge shout out of thanks today to The Golisano Foundation - Bailey and Friends who recently honored our organization with a $25,000 grant earlier this year to fund spay/neuter procedures and to who brought their mobile unit to our facility yesterday. We were able to knock out 30 canine sterilizations in ONE DAY! This is an enormous help to our rescue - here's why:

✅ Acceleration of sterilizations allows us to place animals in homes faster (and makes room for the next animal in need quicker!) - It would normally take several weeks to get all of these appointments set up and move all of the animals throughout our vet network to accomplish this feat

✅ Eliminating the transport of all of these animals back and forth to appointments reduces stress and anxiety for the animals AND allows us to redirect those resources to providing additional care and enrichment for animals at the facility

✅ This financial assistance is critical as sterilization, along with other medical care such as vaccines, deworming, testing, preventatives and microchips at a minimim (not to mention other medical costs such as surgeries, dental work, bloodwork, etc. in many cases) requires up front financial resources well before an adoption fee can be realized - this grant thankfully alleviates some of that upfront financial pressure

A heartfelt thank you to these amazing organizations for their commitment to stem the animal overpopulation crisis and reduce suffering of homeless animals in our state 🥰🙏

❤️‍🩹UPDATE ON POPPY – PUPPY WITH BULLET WOUND❤️‍🩹

We received an urgent call late Sept from Miami-Dade Animal Services asking if we could help Poppy , a 6 month old puppy who had just came in with a bloody wound. Xrays showed a bullet or pellet was embedded in her shoulder-yes, a subhuman used her for target practice.

We had her rushed over to Alejo Vet Clinic where the surgeon attempted to remove the BB pellet, however it had penetrated so deep into her muscle that he felt it would do more damage to remove it than to leave it be. The great news is that Poppy has been released from the vet and she is a happy, wiggly puppy! She has two drains that will have to be removed at some point and we are watching her closely, but other than that, she is not bothered by anything at all – you would never know what she had been through!

My adoption fee is now fully sponsored thanks to an anonymous donor — because I’m such a good girl! 💙🐾

Hello, my name is Mon Cherie. I was found at the bottom of a hay pit, trying to keep my newborn babies safe. I raised all seven of them, and they’re now in wonderful homes… so it’s finally my turn.

I’m a gentle, 3‑year‑old lab/pointer mix who weighs about 55 lbs. I walk beautifully on leash, sit politely for treats, and take them with the softest little nibble. I keep my kennel tidy and just need a consistent routine to finish my potty training. I get along well with other dogs (with proper introductions) and don’t mind the rescue cats. I’m a staff and volunteer favorite, and I even attended a busy store event where I was so well‑behaved!

I’ve been waiting several months for my chance. I’m sweet, easygoing, and ready to love someone with my whole heart. Please give me a chance. 💛

My $250 adoption fee is now zero, and includes all my medical care, exams, vaccines, deworming, microchip, and a negative heartworm test — all done.

💔UPDATE ON NALA AND BALOO:  SAD NEWS FOR NALA 😥; BALOO HOLDING STEADY❤️‍🩹

If you’ve been following us the past 24 hours, you’ve seen the sad story of Nala and Baloo, rescued in horrible condition from a construction site.  A plea was sent to us to help them and they were rushed to the hospital thanks to some wonderful people who refused to look the other way.  Sadly, this is a very cruel world for dumped dogs and although they did their best to survive, they both had finally given up hope – but once we saw their plight we stepped in to see if we could give them the future they deserved.  Here is the latest:

·      Nala – she was in critical condition.  In addition to starvation & parasite infestation, Nala was in kidney failure.  Her BUN level was 450 – the medical staff has never seen a BUN level this high.  Normal 7-27; critical 120 or higher.  She couldn’t be saved – Baloo and one of the individuals that helped bring her to safety were with her when she was humanely euthanized to end her suffering today 🌈 😭

·      Baloo – Still absolutely petrified, there is a lot of hope for Baloo.  Bloodwork shows results in line with a dog that has been starving and is infested with parasites.  He’s anemic, but not to the level of requiring a transfusion.  He is eating and drinking and remains hospitalized🙏

We’re devastated we couldn’t save Nala.  She and Baloo were a team and made it through horrible neglect together.  Now Baloo will need to move on without her, but he won’t be alone-he will only know safety, comfort and love going forward.  He will see Nala one day on the other side of the rainbow bridge. 
TY for everyone who poured their hearts into Nala and Baloo’s tragic story, those who acted to get them the care they desperately needed and all who donated towards their medical bills to date.  The suffering and neglect of the beautiful bully breeds is never ending, yet backyard breeders continue to add to the problem.  We’ll continue to be there for them as best we can & pray for a day when we are no longer needed.
