Why we chose quartz sand (and why it matters for your horse) 🏟️🔬

Great footing isn't just about what you see on top. Here's what went into our indoor arena:

1️⃣ It starts with the base
Before any sand went in, we leveled and compacted the base. A firm, even base is the foundation of good footing: it keeps the sand at a consistent depth, prevents soft spots and low patches, and gives every stride the same support from one end of the arena to the other.

2️⃣ Then the sand: quartz
Not all arena sand is created equal. Quartz is one of the hardest natural minerals, so it holds up under thousands of hoofbeats instead of breaking down into fine dust like softer sands. That means:
✅ Less dust for horse and rider lungs
✅ Angular grains that lock together for stable, supportive footing with just enough cushion
✅ Better drainage and more consistent footing over time
✅ Footing that lasts for years, not seasons

3️⃣ Why it matters
Consistent, well-built footing supports joints, tendons and hooves. As a vet student and equine osteopath, I see firsthand how much footing affects soundness. Your horse's comfort starts from the ground up.

Come feel the difference for yourself at our Halloween Party & Potluck this Sunday, Oct 25, and ask about haul-in memberships to ride on it all winter! Text Cara at (865) 236-4818 or DM us.

Upgrade Spotlight #2 🛠️ Our Outdoor Arena

The indoor isn't the only arena that got some love! Our outdoor arena got a freshly leveled base and lots and lots (and LOTS) of new sand 🏖️

The fresh sand adds cushion and traction for everything from flatwork to jumping... and a really satisfying roll.

Two great arenas = more room to ride, more options for lessons and training, and the perfect spot to soak up those Colorado bluebird days ☀️

Come see it on a tour! Text Cara at (865) 236-4818 or DM us.

✨ THE WAIT IS OVER ✨

Introducing our completely remodeled indoor arena! 🐴

Swipe to see the full transformation 👉

What's new:
• A highly leveled, compacted base: the foundation of great footing. A firm, even base means consistent footing in every corner, with no soft spots or uneven patches.
• Quartz sand: the gold standard for arena footing. Quartz is one of the hardest natural minerals, so it doesn't break down into fine dust the way softer sands do. Its angular grains lock together for stable, supportive footing that still has cushion, drains well and lasts for years.
• A repaired ridgecap: one more step toward our ideal roof.

Rain, snow or shine, we now have a top-quality space to ride, train and learn all year. Better footing means safer, sounder horses, and this is one of the biggest investments in our farm with plenty more improvement plans down the road!

Huge thank-you to our boarders for their patience during construction 💚

Want to ride in it? 👀 Everyone is welcome to come out for a tour. Text Cara at (865) 236-4818 or DM us.
