We don’t deserve dogs. 😔💔
(Warning: this is a sad story but needs to be told)
The heat radiating off the dirt road was relentless yesterday, but the quiet dog slumped in the grass barely felt it. At just two years old, this young dog was completely spent. Emaciated, dehydrated, his body discarded in a place where no one was supposed to look. Yet, despite the exhaustion, he didn't want to give up. He just needed someone to see him.
Thankfully, our city animal control officer caught a glimpse of movement as he traveled that road. The officer moved quickly to pick up the frail pup and as if knowing he was finally safe, the dog let go and collapsed.
The Florence Area Humane Society didn't hesitate and the dog was rushed straight to emergency veterinary care. Many thanks to the staff at the Florence Animal Hospital and at the shelter for the efforts to save him. Though his body was ultimately too tired to stay, his final hours were not spent at the lonely road where he was left. He didn't leave this world forgotten. FAHS fought for him and will continue to work to save every animal, every day. Help us save them all. Your donations make difference.
