This special little boy is getting neutered and vaccinated tomorrow. ❤️
Fenway, a one year old, deaf Merle Boston Terrier (some of you will get my perfect name reference!) who was being sold for 200 bucks intact in Asheville. As an intact double Merle BT, I was worried he would be bought from someone who would want to breed the heck out of him (despite being deaf, back yard breeders would want to breed him for his color and wouldn’t care about litters being deaf). I thankfully was able to grab this little guy and he will be neutered tomorrow. 🙏🏻❤️
What I’ve learned so far -
- needs work on marking (neutering will fix that!)
-super eager to train / food motivated (will be trained on a vibration collar)
-little rough for small kids! He is a BT and likes to do bitey stuff with toys
-has prey drive so far with obsessing over our kennel rescue rabbit / hasn’t seen the cat yet so stay tuned
-very alpha to other dogs / dominating / wanting to mount but loves dogs
—-> the dominance / hu***ng issues should deter post neuter (about 30-90 days)
This boy is also a LOVEBUG! He does have separation anxiety given he’s a little over a year old and been with two homes so far plus being deaf doesn’t help.
He would excel as an only dog or a dog friendly female. Super confident in any environment. Clean in a crate and rides in a car well!
