Rebel’s Recovery

Rebel’s Recovery I’m Jordan, and Rebel is the star of the show. 2025 is our 4th year together. Based out of FDL, WI and will travel within reason. (920) 517-5345 (920) 517-5345.

We do everything we can to recover your animal, offer advice, & educate you on different shot scenarios. I am a busy guy, and can't always answer a phone call right away. The best way to reach me is to try calling, but if I don't answer leave a text. That way even if i am busy, there's a good chance i can at least look at that and at least respond back to you. Feel free to reach out even if you ju

st want to go over what happened and get my opinion on something. Travel distance: We generally track within a 1-hour radius of Fond du Lac, but exceptions can and will be made to go further if we are able to. We track any and ALL deer, not just big bucks. Don't be afraid to call for a doe, small buck, etc. We give it our all no matter what!

Merry Christmas everyone!

It’s been a crazy (awesome) season for us, and it’s winding down now here in WI, but there is still time for those of you still at it! Good luck to everyone still hitting the woods this season 🦌

With the Wisconsin gun season coming up on Saturday, I just wanted to go over a few things quick.

I will be away tomorrow Friday through Sunday night, but will take calls again come Monday evening. On public land, we will only be taking tracks after shooting hours for the day, and it will depend on the situation for private land.

Finish sighting those guns in and follow safe shooting practices both at the range and while hunting, check those straps on your tree stands, wear your harness, and we hope everyone has a safe a successful 2025 WI firearm season! Feel free to reach out with any post-shot questions, even if I’m unavailable to track, I can always offer advice/insight how to proceed.

I should’ve listened to her right away, but I do like to keep some order to a track. She smelt the track, followed it for about 50 yards, and stuck her nose in the air and wanted to go straight to him. I pulled her back to the track and let her have her way the 2nd time and she drug me another 275 yards straight to him. She’s the boss, I just hold the lead.entn

This deer initially bedded within 100 yards are where he was hit, but eventually got up and started putting on some distance. Sure seemed like something bothered him and he was on a mission to get to the next secure area…and then must not have felt too comfortable there and then went a ways again before finally expiring in a bed.

Bucks in trucks 🤙🏻

This is how close a tired shoulder hit will let us get. After a quick but thorough inspection, I could see the would was near his elbow and a non-fatal hit. He had licked it clean/closed overnight. He eventually got up and trotted off like nothing was wrong.

We are extremely busy, but just wanted to check in quick and remind you to CALL/TEXT me at (920)517-5345. I don’t answer phone calls during a track, and I really don’t check FB messenger at all.

This next part is important - Please leave a voicemail or text me your name, location, and shot scenario. My phone is flooded with unknown numbers and this helps me keep track of what’s what. Hopefully we can work out a time to help you out your buck (or doe) in your truck! Thank you!

If there’s any inclination of the hit being a little “back” and into the liver region, leaving them sit at least overnight/12 hours, undisturbing the scent trail, and having us coming in the next day leads to short tracks and bucks in trucks 👍

I cannot stress this enough, but do not underestimate the will to live by a rutted up Whitetail buck, or any deer for that matter.

Any shot behind the rib cage needs a lot of time. Do not even attempt to track if: you have any feeling of it being back, the deer hunched up and walked off, you are unsure of your shot, the impact sounded a bit more hollow than the typical chest cavity “thwack”, or if you can’t find your arrow (and you know it’s NOT in the shoulder or front half of the deer).
Liver needs a minimum of 12 hours, but longer is preferred. This deer was still alive at the 16 hour mark. The liver was hit in the upper corner and the arrow was covered in fat and a little blood.

Gut/intestine shots, 24 hours minimum, but that still isn’t long enough in many circumstances.

Happy Halloween 🎃

If you happen to hit the monster buck of your dreams a little further back than you were aiming for tonight, you’re best bet is to quietly back out, head the opposite direction back to the truck and get ahold of a tracking team right away as the phone is already starting to ring.

Plan on giving that deer a minimum of 24 hours before trying to track/recover. These hits are fatal, but they do take time.

Good luck, the big boys are on their feet 🦌

Here’s something we don’t run into every day in East-Central Wisconsin..

Bobcats aren’t necessarily common in our area, but their population is slowly increasing, which is cool.

This seemed to be that the deer was found by a bobcat, who then buried it. Later that evening the coyotes sniffed if out and began chewing on it. We had coyotes surrounding us and barking as we were standing there trying to intimidate us into leaving “their” carcass. It was a fresh kill from earlier than morning.

The closer we get to November, the more the deer are becoming active during daylight hours.

As the moment of truth is about to unfold, take a breath and think about your shot - line up your EXIT with where your arrow is going to enter to get the most vitals, and once you send the arrow, follow through just like you did all summer on your target, and watch where your arrow hits.

There is a tendency to quickly drop the bow, or swing it off to the side, to see where your arrow is going to hit the deer, but that can lead to you subconsciously dropping your bow arm before the arrow is clear of the rest and leads to the arrow getting “thrown”. Pay attention to how the deer reacts, and watch it until it is out of sight - making note of any distinct landmarks near where you last saw the deer.

Good luck, and if you need help finding your trophy, CALL/TEXT (920) 517-5345. I like to stay focused on a track and will not answer a phone call during an active track, so please leave a voicemail or text me
