Fresh Off the (Unfortunate) Press: Sarabi & Mufasa’s Results 💔🐾
I got Sarabi and Mufasa’s hip results today, and sadly, it’s not the news I was hoping for—both of them failed their evaluations.
Both of my beautiful Maine C**n cats, Sarabi and Mufasa, completed their health testing, and unfortunately, like Willow (our Lagotto), both of them failed their hip evaluations.
As disappointing as this news is, I remain committed to ethical breeding—and that means making the hard choices, even when it breaks your heart a little.
Why does hip testing matter?
Hip dysplasia is a painful, degenerative condition that affects the hip joints. It can seriously reduce a cat’s quality of life and mobility over time. In breeding, we test hips to reduce the chances of passing on structural weaknesses to future generations. Especially in large breeds like Maine C**ns and Lagotto Romagnolo, this kind of screening is essential to ensure we’re not just producing beautiful animals, but healthy ones.
Although Sarabi and Mufasa won’t be part of my breeding program, they are still cherished members of my family. They bring so much joy, snuggles, and personality into my life every day. I consider myself incredibly lucky to have them—even if the results weren’t what I hoped for.
Ethical breeding means making decisions that prioritize the animal’s well-being and the long-term health of the breed. That’s a responsibility I take seriously.
Thank you to everyone who continues to support Premier Truffles and our commitment to integrity in both breeding and training.
