Reptiles are some of the most fascinating animals on the planet, and we're celebrating with a few wild facts that might surprise you!

👁️ THREE EYES?! Bearded dragons have a special light-sensitive third eye on top of their heads!

🐢 BREATHING THROUGH WHAT?! Certain freshwater turtles can absorb oxygen underwater through specialized tissues near their cloaca!

🐍 BUILT-IN HEAT VISION?! Ball pythons have heat-sensing organs that help them locate warm-blooded prey, even in complete darkness!

🦎 DEFYING GRAVITY?! Many geckos have microscopic structures on their toes that allow them to climb smooth surfaces, including glass!

Pretty incredible, right?!

Reptile Awareness Day is all about celebrating these amazing animals, learning what makes them unique, and understanding the importance of proper reptile care.
