Our Mission

Dedicated Care for Lifeโ€™s Greatest Companions

As a Certified Cat Trainer, my primary goal is to safely and confidently provide enrichment and stimulation for our feline companions. Education and appropriate training is vital to provide you and your feline the greatest opportunities for a happy and healthy home. Often this is from behavioral issues, mismatched expectations, lack of pr

eparation, or incompatibility with other pets or individuals in the home. These pets often find themselves surrendered to the local shelter. In Cumberland County for the year 2023, a total of 3,026 cats were processed into the county shelter, 28% of the cats were euthanized. Nationally, estimates increase to 45% of all cats are eventually euthanized who enter a shelter. The numbers are staggering and increase year over year. Dogs and cats bring a level of authenticity to my life. I aspire for Blue Isle Pet Cottages to be a lifestyle business which facilities trust within the community as individuals face circumstances in which their pets need a home away from home, specialized care, or training. We are beginning our journey by offering Cat Training Services throughout Fayetteville and the surrounding area. Our training builds upon three positive pillars: Enrichment, Stimulation, and Confidence. We also offer various homemade toys and accessories which are safe, affordable, and effective for your feline companion. Please ask us about customized products to support your training process. We look forward to assisting you and your companion in achieving your training goals and exploring creative solutions for feline care and enrichment! With education and training integrated early into your felineโ€™s life, we can make a difference!

Some food for thought today. ๐Ÿพ

As a trainer we do not provide medical advisories. But that may not always be entirely as clear or transparent as it sounds. We focus on behavior and categorizing what may be caused by behavioral or environmental issues. When we deduce those factors down to the unexplained, often the result is a potential medical issue. Many of us are trained in Pet First Aid and CPR on top of being familiar with normal signs or symptoms of potential issues. So how do we know the line when discussing potential medical considerations with our training client?

It is a thought provoking question which ultimately ends with a "it depends." If a client is having an immediate onset of cat urinary issues and it is a male cat, we may be more likely to recommend an emergency medical visit as the worst case scenario can be life threatening. Or if a client asks how to treat small scrapes, we may recommend purchasing a pet first aid kit that has an anti-septic spray followed up with a check at the vet if the scratch looks red or swollen.

No matter the knowledge or background of the trainer, first and foremost, we owe it to the client to express that we are not medically certified as a Veterinarian or a Veterinary Technician. Any information that we provide should be clarified as just that... It is information for the client to make the most educated decision they possibly can as they schedule veterinary treatment. We can (and should) lay out all of the indicators and potential symptoms for our clients to provide to their veterinary team. Often, our training plan notes can assist the veterinary team in getting to the root cause quickly and efficiently.

At Blue Isle, we are building our knowledge and education in Animal Care and Behavior. As we learn more, we can educate more, but we uphold our commitment to being a part of your pets wellness team. Between a groomer, a trainer, a veterinary team, and you (as the client), our goal should always remain centered on the health, safety, and happiness of a pet. We know our role and the roles of the wellness team. Let's continue to educate together in making sure our pets are well taken care of with the necessary skills that we each bring to the table. ๐Ÿ’™

Did you know? NC State often has clinical trial opportunities. Reach out if you have a pet that meets the criteria and support the future of veterinary science and discovery. ๐Ÿ’™

This feline study will gauge whether treatment with an investigational product can delay the progression of cardiac disease, reduce the occurrence of cardiac-related morbidity and extend the time to cardiac-related mortality in cats with congestive heart failure.

This is a double-blind, placebo-controlled study of a once-daily oral liquid investigational medication administered by the cat owner, with the goal of achieving approval by FDA.

ALL cats in the study receive Standard of Care based on ACVIM guidelines during the full duration of their study participation, which may help reduce the likelihood of certain disease complications, and all study requirements are provided free to owners, including cardiac and respiratory exams; diagnostic tests, including echocardiogram, electrocardiogram, thoracic radiography and systolic blood pressure; bloodwork, including hematology, biochemistry, total thyroxine, fructosamine, NT-proBNP; and urinalysis.
