Fayette Humane Society We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit all volunteer organization with a mission of spay & neuter.

The National Council on Pet Population Study and Policy’s most recent survey estimates that 64% of the total number of animals that enter shelters are euthanized. The FHS is dedicated to ending the needless suffering of unwanted pets through our aggressive spay and neuter program. In an effort to do our part to alleviate this pandemic, we offer discounted certificates for spay and neuter assistanc

e to those who qualify and as funds permit. Prior to every adoption, we test, vaccinate, and spay or neuter all of our animals, or make arrangements to have them spayed or neutered, ensuring that they will not reproduce and add to this growing problem. Our ultimate goal is to find permanent loving homes for all of our rescued animals.

Molly is super sweet and loving!

She loves to play with other dogs, but can also entertain herself by throwing stuffed toys around. She sleeps in her crate very well, but would also be open to sleeping in bed with her people (she's a bed hog!). She gets along with and tries to play with her foster's cat, but does not pester her too long. Squirrels are too much for her, so she will chase them and will need a secure place to be let outside. When she has found weak spots in the fence, she always comes back and walks herself to the gate and waits to be let back into the yard. She loves lounging outside and would love to lounge with her person while gardening or taking in the sunshine.

Molly is fully grown and is about 2 1/2 years old. Both parents were Heinz 57 mixes and all of her siblings were different colors and different looks so we’re not entirely sure what her mix is! She is full grown at 60 pounds.

Molly appears to have a “bad knee” or pre-existing injury on one of her knees. So every once in a while, she limps and she is on a prescription joint supplement which our vet is going to recommend that she stays on throughout her life or a similar one also from her future vet clinic. Well this currently doesn’t hinder her much we understand that as she ages, this may change.

Meet Penny!

Penny is a happy, energetic little girl who is ready to leave her rough start behind and find a family of her own.

Penny and her siblings were abandoned together on a dirt road, so we don’t know their history or exactly what breeds they are. We believe they are around 7 months old. They were very small when they came to us and may have been malnourished for an extended period of time, but they are steadily gaining weight and making great progress.

Penny currently weighs about 22 pounds. We expect her to mature to around 30–35 pounds, although because her breed and history are unknown, she may ultimately stay smaller.

Penny is full of energy and loves to run, play, and have fun. She loves toys, treats, and other dogs, and she is good with kids. She is also a very smart girl who catches on quickly when she’s learning something new.

One thing Penny is still working on is her enthusiasm for people — she tends to jump when she gets excited. She’s learning that all four feet belong on the floor, and her intelligence should make her a quick study.

Penny does have a fairly high prey drive and wants to chase the cat whenever she sees him, so a home without cats would likely be the best fit for her.

She and her siblings have made great progress with house training, and she is continuing to learn and grow into the wonderful young dog she is meant to be.

Meet Pearl!

Pearl is a gentle, sweet girl who may need a little time to trust you, but once she does, you’ll see what a happy little soul she really is.

Pearl and her siblings were abandoned together on a dirt road. We don’t know anything about their history or exactly what breeds they are. We believe they are around 7 months old, and they may have been malnourished for quite some time. They are slowly gaining weight and getting healthier, and Pearl is making wonderful progress as she learns that she is safe.

Pearl currently weighs about 21 pounds. We expect her to mature to approximately 30–35 pounds, although with her unknown breed mix and history, she may ultimately remain smaller.

Pearl is a timid girl who can be unsure of new people and new experiences at first. Once she warms up to you, though, she transforms into such a happy girl. She loves treats, being petted, and spending time with her people.

Pearl especially enjoys going for walks and is surprisingly good on a leash. She has an adorable habit of looking up at you while you’re walking and waiting for you to give her a little nose boop. It’s one of her favorite things.

She is wonderful with kids. She is terrified of cats, and while she is unsure around other dogs initially, she can warm up to them with time and patience.

Pearl and her siblings have also made great progress with house training.

Pearl is looking for a patient family who will give her the time she needs to feel safe and confident. In return, you’ll get to watch a sweet, timid girl blossom into the happy companion she was always meant to be.

Meet Boo!

If you’re looking for a fun-loving, intelligent, active adventure buddy, Boo may be your girl!

Boo is a 2.5-year-old Border Collie weighing around 35 pounds, and she is everything you’d expect from this amazing breed. She is incredibly smart, very people-oriented, silly, affectionate, and ALWAYS ready to play.

Boo absolutely LOVES toys. In fact, you’ll almost always find her carrying a toy around whenever one is available. Toys are her love language, and she would happily play with you for hours!

She is crate trained, house broken, and wonderful with other dogs of all sizes. She loves everyone she meets and has a genuinely sweet, loving personality.

But let’s be honest: Boo is a Border Collie, and she is not looking for a life of lounging on the couch all day. She needs a family that understands that her brilliant mind and energetic body need an outlet. She would thrive with someone who wants a dog to hike with, run with, play with, swim with, explore with, and keep mentally stimulated.

After a day of adventures, Boo is more than happy to settle in with her people and enjoy the love and security of a home of her own.

Boo is looking for an active companion home that will give her plenty of opportunities to use her energy and intelligence while also giving her the safe, loving place to rest her head at night that she deserves.

UPDATE: ADOPTED!!

Meet Pumpkin!

Pumpkin is a sweet little girl who may be small, but she has a big personality waiting to shine. Pumpkin and her siblings were abandoned together on a dirt road, so we don’t know much about their past or exactly what breeds make up these adorable girls. We believe they are around 7 months old, and they may have gone without proper nutrition for quite some time. Thankfully, they are slowly gaining weight and getting healthier every day.

Pumpkin currently weighs about 15 pounds, and we expect her to mature to around 20–25 pounds. Because her breed and history are unknown, she may ultimately stay a little smaller.

Pumpkin can be shy when she first meets you, but give her a little time and her playful side comes right out. She absolutely loves toys, especially squeaky ones, and she is very treat motivated. Once she feels comfortable, she loves being petted and showered with attention.

She has been wonderful with kids and other dogs, and she is curious about cats. She’s still learning about the world around her, but she has already come such a long way.

Pumpkin and her siblings have also made great progress with house training.

If you’re looking for a sweet, playful little companion who just needs someone willing to give her a little time to blossom, Pumpkin may be your girl.
