After being accused of being an immoral and disreputable breeder on my post trying to find homes for my retired dogs I think it’s warranted that I explain the reason for why I choose to rehome my retired dogs instead of keeping every single one.🫤

First, let me just say I truly didn’t expect the backlash that I received nor do I feel like it’s justified!!🤬 If you think that me wanting to safely rehome my dogs myself to ensure they find the best homes for their personalities and needs makes me immoral, and a “puppy mill” then I think society has been conditioned to just hate anyone that breeds dogs.

Rehoming my retired dogs is the hardest part of being a breeder, and the one part that I dread the most. I hate saying goodbye to these amazing creatures that I have raised, BUT I do it for their benefit because I know that’s what is best for them!

Do they have a terrible life living with me with all these other dogs? NO…but it is different. Here they must share everything including attention. If I place them then they can be the center of someone’s world 🌎 being an only dog.

I dearly love all my dogs!! They are very well cared for, and receive regular veterinary care to ensure that they are healthy for breeding!! I feel as if my veterinary team would have no problem backing me up on this. If at any point my veterinarians recommend removing a dog from breeding then they’re removed. No questions asked, no pondering the situation, no rationalizing the consequences…the dog is removed!!

Most of my dogs are retired between the ages of 4-6 years old. The females usually have 4 litters during their breeding years. This by no means dictates that every female must have 4 litters. Some may only have 1 litter, and be retired at the age of 2 years old. Other females may have 2 or 3 litters, and then be retired, just like Pebbles and Pikachu!! There’s NO set litter limit!!

The decision to retire a dog is based on several different criteria:

1️⃣ Was there any issues during pregnancy?

2️⃣ Did momma have a difficult time whelping? Did she need a c-section or an oxytocin injection to deliver? Did she have uterine enertia, or develop metritis?

3️⃣ Any difficulties nursing, or issues with milk supply? Did she develop mastitis?

4️⃣ Was she a good momma dog? Did she enjoy being a momma dog?

5️⃣ The health of the puppies produced by the specific breeding: any congenital defects?
If so, then a discussion with my veterinarian on if the defect is likely caused by genetics carried or if it’s just a true congenital defect that can happen , but not likely to reoccur.

I make the decision based on the above 👆🏻 criteria, and with the recommendations given by veterinarians.

The lifespan of a dachshund is 15 years. If I was to keep every dog that is retired then I would quickly become overwhelmed within a few years. This would make me a DOG HOARDER‼️
I thought we as a community decided long ago that dog hoarding situations were horrific‼️

Why would I purposely become one?

Instead, I choose to safely rehome my retired dogs into homes that I know will offer them what their needs, and personalities will thrive in. I can only safely house, and care for so many dogs. If I am to continue to breed I must rehome the retired dogs. Most of my retired dogs are placed with my puppy parents that already have a Loop Creek kid. The moms are usually reunited with one of their babies‼️🤗
Why would anyone be against this or think it’s “immoral”??

Now, after reading my explanation of “Why I rehome the retired dogs” I hope you have a better understanding of why it’s the responsible choice. Breeders that rehome dogs are doing what is in the best interest of every dog under their care. If at any time the placement isn’t working for any reason then I take the dog back. No questions asked‼️ The dog returns back to me and the rehoming fee is returned. I will always offer my dogs a safe place to land‼️💞✨

If you still think I am a terrible person then maybe you’re just anti-breeding in general, and you should only consider adopting from a rescue or shelter. They need homes too!

‼️‼️ADULTS‼️‼️🏠✨✨✨

PLEASE, READ POST IN ITS ENTIRETY BEFORE MESSAGING.😉

If you are wanting a dachshund, but don’t necessarily want to raise a puppy, and are looking for an adult female you’re in luck! 🍀✨✨

A little introduction about my dogs:

All my dogs are very dog friendly and have lived as a pack in my home with me, my husband, and our adult son.

They have never been exposed to kitties 🐈, but I can cat test them if needed prior to adopting. Most of my dogs that have been rehomed do surprisingly well with the family kitty! 🐈

My dogs have NEVER been kept in kennels for extended periods of time, and I prefer to keep it that way! They are fine with being in a crate for short periods, and for travel to the vet, or groomers.
⚠️They are not FULLY crate trained though.

None of my dogs have been exposed to small kids for long periods of time. However, they have always done well around babies, but due to them not ever living with little ones:
⚠️ I PREFER NO HOMES WITH KIDS UNDER THE AGE OF 4!

🏠 My dogs are all trained to use a doggie door to go outside for potty time, AND to use washable potty pads during the night, bad weather, or raising puppies. You will need to work with them to set a new potty schedule, and to FULLY house-train them to potty outside OnLy!

🚧 Most of my dogs spend a lot of time outside playing, sunbathing, digging, etc. They are used to being able to freely go & come as they wish via the doggie door. A fenced in YaRd is required for some of my dogs, and OnLy Preferred for others based on each individual dog’s exercise requirements.

📬 If you think one of the girls listed above 👆🏻 will work for you, and your family please send me a message 💌introducing yourself, your lifestyle, and where you live‼️

🚸Make sure to include the following information ℹ️: 👇🏻
✳️ Introduction to family.
✳️ Lifestyle (Work/School hours)
✳️ kids (ages✅)
✳️ pets (species or breed) & how many
✳️ Home 🏡 or apartment 🏢
✳️ veterinarian 👩🏻‍⚕️

📬 I will message 💌 if I have any questions.

There will be a rehoming 💲 to help cover the cost 💲 of spay ✅, and their dental 🦷‼️✅

⚠️ Also, please understand that it will take a lot longer for the adults to fully transition into their new families. Puppies adapt quickly to a changing environment, but the adults DO NOT‼️

I like using “The Rule of 3’s” whenever rehoming the retired adults.

✅ It will take 3 days for them to begin to eat and understand that I am not coming to get them.

✅ It will take 3 weeks for them to begin to settle into a new routine, and let their guard down.

✅ It will take 3 months for them to fully transition to their new home and accept their new home!🏡

I beg that you give them this time‼️

🆘 If at any time you decide that it’s just not going to work out for AnY REASON just message, text, or call Bill or myself‼️

‼️‼️🆘 WE WILL ALWAYS TAKE OUR DOG BACK AND REFUND YOU YOUR ADOPTION FEE‼️‼️‼️‼️

Never 🚫 take the dog to a rescue or shelter‼️

((NFS)) We did not want to leave all the other gorgeous babies from Clover Shaye & Jagger’s litter out of picture day!!! Just look at these faces!

I do believe I overestimated their mature size. The puppy parents that have pups from their previous litter together all checked in and their babies are “bigger” miniatures at 10-14lbs. I do believe this breeding will mature to the same size range. 💞✨
