I’m thinking about getting some more meat birds again…

We eat so much chicken throughout the year, and I hate to run out, but I’m afraid it’s too hot for these birds in Texas right now😅

What do yall think? Should I give it another few weeks or go ahead and pick them up next week?

Ugh there’s nothing worse than walking into a crushed egg and then having to collect the surrounding (now wet and sticky) eggs…

At least this is how I felt in the moment 😂

I snagged eggs twice today 🤪 normally when I’m in and out of the run, it’s because the chickens are getting treats. I think some of them were a little let down that I had nothing for them today haha 😅

I needed peppers for dinner, so I headed to the garden!

Also, peppers and okra are the only plants I know that are still alive in anyone’s garden right now 🙃 the drought and intense heat has been miserable in Texas this year!!

What a great surprise! We just found our first two duck eggs! 😄

It’s funny - I was just looking for information yesterday on duck maturity and when they begin laying eggs. How wild that I’d find two eggs in the yard today hah

I was surprised by the color and the size too! Maybe their eggs will get a little larger because they’re new layers, similar to what happens with a young hen.

But the color - wow! Let’s just say this seafoam green color was a surprise 😆 I was expecting a cream/white color because that’s all I see online, but I guess that means I haven’t done enough research on Indian Runner ducks 😅

Now to test the flavor…
