A lot of owners with fearful dogs need to become more self aware.

Your dog is paying attention to everything you do, your tone, your body language, your emotions, and how you respond to situations. If you’re nervous, hesitant, or constantly reassuring your dog that “it’s okay,” you’re unintentionally confirming that the situation is something to worry about.

This doesn’t make you a bad owner. It means it’s important to look at your own behavior too.

Sometimes helping a fearful dog isn’t about changing the dog first, it’s about changing the information we’re giving them. Calm, clear guidance and confidence from the handler can make a huge difference in how a dog learns to navigate the world.
