Beau has been in our care since April 2026 after being found running on the road behind a gas station. He did not have a microchip. Medical: Beau is approximately 8 years old, heartworm negative, and up to date on vaccines. He suffers from chronic allergies that cause secondary skin and ear infections. Staff Notes: When Beau was processed it was noted that he has very dry, irritated skin with hair loss around the base of his tail and on his paws. He has been biting at the base of his tail, causing bleeding, and head shaking has been observed.
Volunteer Notes: Beau is energetic and approachable. He knows sit, down, and paw, enjoys treats and affection, and loves rolling on the turf for back scratches and belly rubs. He pulls through the kennel but appears to have the potential to adjust well to a home environment.
Behavior Notes: Beau has participated in multiple dog introductions and has played appropriately with several dogs. He was involved in an altercation when another dog repeatedly attempted to mount him, he corrected and attempted to run away from the other dog. Despite this incident, Beau has had positive interactions with other dogs, including play bows and push-and-pull play.
Request to Rescues: Beau is currently in foster care and urgently needs a rescue willing to commit to his ongoing medical needs. He has been receiving Cytopoint injections and has required additional oral Apoquel during allergy flare-ups. He needs more individualized care, including a possible allergy workup and diet trials, to better manage his chronic skin and ear conditions.
