Hey folks, We are closed for intake and at this time not operating.
1. If you have found an animal please ALWAYS reach out to your local animal control. Full stop, they have a job to do and it is to help stray and injured animals. They are funded by tax dollars to do that job. After hours, call local police or sheriff’s department. I’ve had a few messages recently where people tell me that they won’t help or they never respond, they don’t get to do that and stop allowing them to do that.
2. There are tons of rescues in our area that you can reach out to for adoption. Please check out Petfinder.com for those animals. The shelter is always full as well.
3. Low cost spay neuter options can be found by reaching out to your local shelter. We can not, at this time, offer assistance.

With more adoptable pets than ever, we have an urgent need for pet adopters. Search for dogs, cats, and other available pets for adoption near you with Petfinder.

Please get your pets spayed and neutered. Truly no excuse not too. We need you, the owners to be responsible for your pets because animals are in crisis. It starts with you, the owner! You can prevent mass euthanasia and needless death of our pets.

🐾 Please Don’t Litter, Spay/Neuter Your Critters!! 🐾

Our Surgery Center is a Private non-profit Spay/Neuter facility. Primarily focused on the over population of stray cats in our Community, helping our 501c3 rescue partners AND we help Low Income Pet Owners!

There are two programs that we accept, significantly reducing costs for Low Income Pet Owners, allowing them to do their part to reduce the over population of unwanted animals.

🐾 AL Medicaid License plate program can be used for 2 pets each year. Anyone in the household that receives Medicaid is eligible.

🐾 Baldwin Co Animal Shelter discount vouchers. As a participating clinic, we accept these vouchers for anyone in the household that receives government financial assistance or income below the state median. Must be resident of Baldwin Co. The Vouchers expire in 90 days. Limited to 2 per household.

How do you request an appointment?
It’s easy!! Go to our website linked below, complete the request form using the appropriate application form for the income option listed above. 🐾Lovebug update🐾

Recently we shared a dog that had been found. Lovebug’s mom reached out about adopting him so of course we helped with getting him to them. His foster mom took amazing care of Harvey and it was a happy ending. This is the second sibling we have sent to these amazing adopters as some of you may remember they adopted Anna that we had recently pulled from Clarke County Animal Shelter and got her through her heartworm treatment.
Lovebug is now Betty, Anna is now Rosie and Harvey was named before he left.
They all blended in well with the two other resident dogs and have their own amazing personalities. Betty has adapted very quickly to the good life and is enjoying the good life. A neighborhood favorite!

I know, my husband keeps asking me where that dog came from when the last one was the last one but…in my defense, when a previous adopter reaches out and says please find us another dog, it is truly an honor and I will do my best to fulfill the task they trusted me with because, honestly, this is the best gift anyone can give me. It makes me so happy when I can adopt multiple dogs to amazing families. So 2 weeks ago we were sent this girl at a shelter a few hours away. Me being me, I reached out to the family and sent her description and picture and they said yes so, I got in the car and drove the 3 hours 1 way to grab her (and a couple of others for our rescue friends). Winnie was surrendered to the shelter when she was too much for her family. This girl has clearly had some training but, I have to assume there was no consistency as she is a lot of dog but this girl loves love. She will fit right in with her new brother Kerby who was described the same as she was. Today she is headed north to her family! Happy Tails pretty girl. We had fun with your stay over but you are off to an amazing life of fun!

Ricky went yesterday for surgery and it was decided he could keep his leg. He had made a lot of improvement and continues to get stronger.
Ricky also left with his new family yesterday to continue to improve and also get some extra love.
Ricky will be my last foster for awhile, for real. Baldwin County has changed so much from the Baldwin County I grew up in. It just doesn’t feel like home to me any longer. I moved back here when my kids were young to be close to my family and now my kids are both out on their own. My husband and I have decided to pursue the dream I had in my teens/20s and move to Alaska. I hope that, once we are settled, we can begin to work towards getting a wildlife rehab license. Wildlife has always been my true love and passion.
So for now, we will be preparing our house for the real estate market (if anyone is looking for a somewhat secluded spot in Fairhope with a little property let me know. 😉). I will continue to do everything I can for Clarke County Animal Shelter to get their dogs adopted so be on the lookout for some adoption events while I’m still here. They also are on our Petfinder page as well.
I can’t thank you all enough for your support over the last few years. It means so much to us that, when Tish and I decided to make it official, we had so many people that backed us and supported us. I am so thankful for all of our adopters for loving your misfits. And thank you to all of our rescue friends who remain in the trenches. They are truly continuing to do a hard job.

Let me get one thing straight because this is the most common reason, probably, why we get asked to take an owner surrender. No one wants your dog aggressive dogs. Not any rescue I know will willingly take a dog aggressive dog. My response to people…rehome your other dog and take responsibility for your problem OR do what I did for 5+ years and manage your household. Either way, do not think that rescues and shelters have space for your dog aggressive dog to sit and wait for the unicorn home, do not ask them to spend the money they don’t have to train the dog you don’t want to train.

10/02/2026

Well it’s as I suspected and the little guy will need that front leg amputated so he’s scheduled for next week. Amputations are never an easy decision but at his age, the difficulty he has with that leg and increased risk for infection related to pressure wounds this is our only choice. I have decided to wait to neuter him. Pediatric neuter has always plagued me but as a rescuer it has always been a necessary thing to combat the population. It brings increased risk with it and with him, I’m just not willing to set him up for anymore failure. So, once we get him through amputation recovery he will be searching for the most perfect home to continue recovering from the rickets and someone that understands we will be closely monitoring him and will work together to make him the healthiest pup that will grow old and healthy with his new family.
I can tell you that this little guy is a rockstar. He is the easiest going boy you could ask for. Submissive and loving to the dogs and the cats. He just wants to be close to his persons.
If you would like to help us with his medical expenses we would certainly appreciate it! ❤️
