This is one of our own personal wounds that we have in the barn.
We took this horse in for a dear friend after receiving a call that she had kicked through a wood/pipe fence.
The wounds were scabbed over and hard to see at first due to the extreme case of cellulitis. The cellulitis was very painful and stretched a lot of the skin which made it somewhat difficult to scrub over the wounds and see what we were dealing with.
We gently applied muffin mud and abscess away for the cellulitis and wrapped for about 7 days and 1 dose of antibiotics was administered.
Once the swelling went down, the horse was much more tolerant of the wound cleaning and the scabs and skin that needed to be removed came off and then Cut-Out wound cream was applied on the wounds. Muffin Mud and Abscess Away were continued on the leg and surrounding areas.
I felt it started to get too much moisture, so I switched to muffin mud directly on the wound.
I continue to switch back and forth between muffin mud and cut out on the wounds depending on how dry, or “wet” it is.
Since the scabbed over skin has come off and the cellulitis has gone away the skin has really started to accept these products and heal quickly ❤️
