Walking Wet Noses

Twenty-five years ago this morning, Fairfax County's own Virginia Task Force 1 was called to the Pentagon, just down the road from home.

Dog teams worked alongside rescuers in Arlington and at Ground Zero. In New York, the dogs pulled 12-hour shifts on the pile, and volunteer veterinarians rinsed their eyes and cleaned their paws before they went back out.

Today we're holding close every family still carrying that day, and every responder, handler, and dog who showed up for strangers. 🤍

Josie's Labor Day plans: absolutely nothing. 🐾

She's had a lot of practice. Josie is our resident host — the one who greets every guest, shows them where the good sunny spot is, and generally sets the tone for the weekend.

We have openings September 4–8 for in-home boarding, overnight care, house sitting, and drop-in visits. No kennels, no runs — just a comfortable house, a fenced yard, and her.

Holiday spots fill fast. Send us a message. 💗

It's summer, which means road trip season is officially here. 🚗🐾

Some dogs are natural-born travelers — head out the window, ears flying, living their best life at every stoplight. 😎 Others would honestly rather stay home. Wherever your pup falls on that spectrum, a few simple tricks can make every car ride safer and a whole lot more enjoyable.

A quick checklist before you hit the road:

🦴 Treats and chews to keep them happily occupied
🛏️ A comfortable dog seat or bedding so they feel secure
🔒 A harness that latches to the seat — safety always comes first
☀️ And the golden summer rule: never leave your dog in a parked car, even for a minute. Temperatures climb dangerously fast.

Got a dog who'd rather skip the car altogether? That's literally our job. 🐶 Ask us about our pet taxi service — we'll handle the vet runs, grooming drop-offs, and everything in between, so no one has to be wrestled into the backseat.
