✨ Meet Luna & Bizbee’s little “E” crew! ✨

While we were on vacation, we were expecting two litters, and I had everything arranged with my breeder friend to handle both deliveries. I was actually the most nervous about Luna since this was her very first litter.

But after Pickles’ delivery went oh so wrong, plans changed. 😅 I talked with our wonderful sitter and vet tech, Emily, and she felt confident that—with some teamwork—we could do this. We had backup plans in place just in case anything went sideways.

So from hundreds of miles away, I watched the cameras and talked Emily through everything over the phone and FaceTime… and she successfully whelped her very first litter! 🥹👏

And LOOK what Luna & Bizbee gave us! 😍

These babies are absolutely gorgeous. Luna is just 7 lbs and Bizbee is 9 lbs, so we expect these little ones to stay on the smaller side. Every single puppy is dapple, and a few appear to have inherited some of Luna’s most striking features—beautiful blue eyes, white markings, and gorgeous dapple patterns. 💙

But the best part?

In honor of the woman who stepped up and helped safely welcome these babies into the world, every puppy in this litter will have a name beginning with “E.” 💜

Thank you, Emily. This litter will always have a little extra-special story behind it.

🚨 HOW are these babies still available?! 😍🐾

Ember & Arya’s litters just got a BIG website update, and somehow we still have 2 gorgeous girls + 4 adorable boys waiting for their families! 🏡💕

And the best part?! They’ll be ready to head home in just TWO WEEKS! 🥹

Their little personalities are really starting to shine, and choosing a favorite is getting nearly impossible. ❤️

We got back from vacation and immediately had a bunch of appointments and things to do to get ready for school. All the stress that comes with puppies never ends and while I may have been physically away on a vacation, I definitely was not mentally there. After I finally got my kiddos off to school with all the things they need, I had to take a mental break and check out even though I really should have been advertising and sharing on here. We have so many gorgeous pups right now! I am working on getting the website updated.
We even have a very special RECESSIVE BLACK with DNA testing to prove it; he was being considered for stud but he does not carry long hair so he will be PET only.

Life has been full of hard decisions lately in all aspects, but such is life! I went to my friend’s house to gather the 3 remaining puppies of Pickles’ this morning, but we were both agonizing over what that would do to Cookie (their surrogate mama) because she doesn’t have any remaining puppies. That’s really hard on the mama dogs and while they do eventually go through the natural weaning process and not wanting to be around their puppies anymore, they are very protective of small pups and it would be cutting it very short.

Ultimately, we don’t need to cause unnecessary stress to Cookie and puppies when the two groups of three are thriving separately. It is not ideal for me, but that is a consequence of my own choice to ask her to whelp Pickles and Cookie stepping in to foster these babies. I will be making the 2-3 hour round trip about once a week to take new pictures and videos until the natural weaning process has occurred and I can reunite the group.

I mean look into those eyes and tell me that’s the wrong choice.

We came home a little early from vacation because I couldn’t stand being away from the pups and our sitter was hand feeding them even with Isabella and her pup. I needed to get home to assess the situation. I immediately went to check them when I came home and my husband immediately went to Pickles to check on her and see if she had any milk. She had ZERO signs of milk when pregnant and several days after delivery so I was shocked when he told me she did in fact have colostrum! I have reunited them and she just knew she was missing them. Keeping a close eye on their weights but hopefully we get a full supply in soon! I will likely go get her other pups early this week if she can establish a milk supply.

Some good news! All 6 of Pickles’s girls are still with us. Pictured are the three with the surrogate mama at my friend’s house; Cookie is doing excellent job of being a mama. These three puppies are no longer being supplemented.

The three at our house are hanging on; they are still receiving round the clock supplementation from our sitter. She is amazing and it’s so much work to care for our dogs and pups in trouble. We are seeing small gains so hopefully it continues. Isabella is our surrogate mom and she has a singular older pup that’s still nursing. We will be home in a few days so I am hoping to get then through those days and I can wean the bigger pup or start trying to graft them onto Pickles.

Pickles update:

She got her IV fluids and she had six girls in there. Pickles took a really long time to come back after anesthesia, but she did finally wake up. She is not stable enough to take on trying to nurse the puppies. She needs to rest and recover, and our sitter is taking her back in for more bloodwork tomorrow so we know where is sitting. She is far from out of the woods.

The littlest ee cream girl is going to need miracles to pull through, but she’s in good hands to try to get her going. My friend has a mama that had a singleton that unfortunately didn’t make it, but she is hopefully going to care for three puppies. Our friend is going to be supplementing the littlest girl. Our sitter is going to be taking the three biggest pups home and trying to get Isabella to surrogate them since she only has a singleton as well. Prayers still appreciated for all 7 little lives.

We hardly ever get to go on vacation because these dogs are 24/7 365 days a year. Planning a trip 10 months in advance is hard to do with our dogs. We took a chance to try and get away and give our kids a chance to hang at the beach before school starts.

My good friend agreed to whelp Pickles and Luna while we are away. Pickles has never had any issues while whelping but Luna is a new mom, so I have been more nervous about her. Well, Pickles started throwing up two nights ago (the night I left) and our amazing vet tech sitter took her out to my friend to be whelped. Well Pickles has not stopped throwing up and became very lethargic this morning so to the vet she went. Her blood sugar was dangerously low and she is also not contracting for some reason. It appears there is a pup in a C backwards position blocking the way out. Dr. Kayla needed to stabilize her before she can even get pups out without for sure losing Pickles during surgery. Pickles also has a very high white blood cell count so whatever is going on with her is not good, but if you pray, please say some for my sweet 🥒 Pickles. She is not out of the woods even when the puppies come out and I am 1300 miles away. I did talk to her on FaceTime this morning and she gave me a head perk.

What will happen once the pups are out? Not sure but hopefully we can all put our heads together and pull everyone through this. Our friend is a very seasoned dachshund breeder and our sitter is actually a vet tech so she is very capable loving hands. If I absolutely have to, I will jump on a plane and head home, but my human kids need me too. Breeding is not all sunshine and rainbows. I always try to do my best by all my babies big and small.

No negative comments or they will be immediately deleted and blocked.

This sweet boy is ready for his new lap! Long hair cream boy! He is small, super sweet and incredibly smart! He would make an excellent cuddle bug!

His tear stains will dissipate as his snout grows, we see them in a lot of puppies, it’s just more noticeable in light pups.
