“Appropriate” exposure to novelty, strangers, sounds, and other animals is a critical part of their development, and while it’s important to practice social skills for their entire life, the first 16 weeks is the most impressionable.

About our Pup School Programs:

We are certified professional dog trainers, offering a day school program with early social and training opportunities for puppies and young dogs.

Featuring:

🦴Positive Reinforcement Training Methods

🐶Supervised play and socialization as appropriate for each individual pup

🦮Access to our private group to view tutorials and videos of your own pup training and rocking their social outings!

👩We maintain a ratio of one employee for every 4 puppies
(your pup is always under close supervision)

A cue in dog training is a signal that tells your dog when it is time to perform a specific behavior to earn a reward

Cues are not always verbal like sit, down, or stay for example.

Often our dogs are responding to environmental cues … such as picking up a leash or jingling your keys.

My dogs are very responsive to the closet door where the frisbees live 😎🐾

Walking Tip Wednesday 🦮🐕

I currently walk 5 of my own dogs, so when I head out for a hike, it’s super hard to choose just one hiking buddy. And it’s nice when I can bring multiple at a time.

Keep in mind that it’s not usually a great idea to bring an untrained dog or an elderly dog along on the same leash walk…you’ll need to give that older dog more support and the green dog will require more attention and you may need to slow down and use some treats to help them through new experiences)

We work hard on recall skills so that we can enjoy off leash time in safe areas, but no matter how great your dog listens, there are leash laws here in the US, and practice is the only way to build that team skill with your dog(s)

Another great session with Luka the adolescent Samoyed today 🐾

Luka finds it fun to steal shoes and other inappropriate items so that his people will chase him 💨🙃

We are changing the game so that he brings the items to us instead.

These trade games are way more fun than having to chase down a dog that plays keep away, or even worse, this type of behavior can also lead to resource guarding 😬

No one told her to go to wait in her crate…the food dish has become the cue! She knows where it will be delivered💗🐾
