πΎ **Have You Met Boone?** π
If you've been following our program, you've probably seen Boone pop up in the show ring, on the dock diving platform, or chasing a lure across a field. But there's so much more to this handsome boy than his growing collection of titles!
Boone is an established part of our breeding program, and we have some pretty exciting plans for his future. He's one of those dogs who reminds us exactly why we put so much thought into selecting our breeding dogs, and why we're so excited about the next generations we're producing.
Boone came to us from a breeding program in West Virginia, where we selected him for his long lineage of champions, imported European Golden Retriever bloodlines, beautiful structure, and, most importantly, his temperament. He's got that substantial, stocky build and broad, blocky head we love, weighing in at a healthy 77 pounds and still filling out.
He was also born with an adorable little white spot on his forehead, a signature marking inherited from his dad. And wouldn't you know it, he's passed that same little marking along to some of his own puppies!
**But what makes Boone truly exceptional isn't something you can see in a photograph.** β€οΈ
Boone lives with his guardian family, an older couple, and the relationship he shares with his guardian mom is one of my favorite things about him.
She's a petite woman, and Boone is a big, strong Golden Retriever. Yet the awareness and self-control he demonstrates around her are remarkable. He has been by her side through a particularly vulnerable chapter of her life, her recovery from knee surgery. Even as a young dog, he showed an incredible ability to adjust his energy, move carefully around her, and offer support when she needed help steadying herself.
This is the same dog who will launch himself off a dock, enthusiastically chase a lure, and play fetch until you're ready to call it quits. But at home, with someone who needs a gentler approach, he knows how to settle himself.
**That balance between drive and self-control is something I value tremendously in a breeding dog.**
Boone is incredibly social, outgoing, affectionate, and forgiving. He loves people, gets along beautifully with other dogs, and is perfectly happy coexisting with livestock and small animals, despite having plenty of prey drive when it's time to compete.
He's also a world-class snuggler. Big spoon? Little spoon? Boone doesn't care, as long as he's close to his people. He follows his guardian mom everywhere and wants to be included in whatever she's doing.
And if you're doing yard work, you can count on his assistance! Boone loves digging, playing in piles of leaves, and helping redistribute freshly spread mulch. Whether his contributions improve the landscaping is debatable, but his enthusiasm certainly isn't. π
He LOVES water, fetch, and just about any opportunity to learn something new.
**And boy, have we given him opportunities!**
Boone has already earned his **National Champion and UKC Champion titles** in conformation, but this past year we've been exploring his abilities beyond the show ring.
He's earned his Novice Dock Diving title, even landing a Junior division jump on his final attempt at the Douglas County Fair! He's also earned his HOP, DASH, and RACEN titles in lure coursing and precision coursing, along with his NASDA Urban Locating Level 1 (UL-I) title. We're currently working toward his Shed Hunt titles, and he's having a wonderful time discovering just how many different things a Golden Retriever can do.
And he's nowhere near finished!
**As if all of that weren't enough, Boone is also genetically low-shedding!**
Yes, a Golden Retriever with genetics associated with reduced shedding! He still has that beautiful Golden coat and needs regular grooming, but less loose hair around the house is a pretty wonderful bonus. It's another quality that makes him such a pleasure to live with.
**So why are we so excited about Boone's future in our program?**
Because we're already seeing the qualities we love about him reflected in his puppies.
His offspring are showing the calmer, more thoughtful, self-controlled temperaments we've come to appreciate in Boone himself. We have promising young dogs from his lines currently training for service work, and watching those qualities carry into the next generation is incredibly rewarding.
Our goal has never been simply to produce beautiful puppies. We want dogs with the temperament, structure, health, and versatility to become wonderful companions, whether their future includes family life, dog sports, therapy work, or service work.
Boone brings so much to that goal, particularly in our **Ultra Goldendoodle program**, where we're excited to combine the wonderful qualities of the Golden Retriever with the traits we're thoughtfully selecting from our Poodle lines.
And there's plenty more Boone to come!
π¬ **October 2026:** Boone and Sophie are expecting our Sweet Shoppe litter, due October 27!
πΎ **2027:** We already have a couple of additional litters planned with Boone, including more opportunities for families interested in our Ultra Goldendoodles.
We're incredibly proud of the dog Boone is, the accomplishments he's earned, and the puppies he's already helping us produce. He's firmly established himself as an important part of our program, and we believe some of his most exciting chapters are still ahead.
**If you've been considering one of our puppies, Boone is absolutely a dog worth getting to know.** β€οΈ
