I made a mistake yesterday.

Yesterday was a lesson that no one should have had to learn because I created policies to care for everyone involved. By neglecting those policies I created a potentially dangerous situation.

I as the trainer, as the business owner, as the lead on the matter put not only my team at risk but a pig at risk and I have made it my mission not to endanger anyone ever. We have policies in place to keep pigs and people safe and in an attempt to avoid rescheduling clients again I neglected my own policy. That will not happen again.

Trimming above 90° is dangerous. Trimming above 90° is hazardous to pigs because they do not have the means to cool themselves down by sweating.
Trimming while tired or exhausted is also a risk factor because tired brains cannot make good decisions when under pressure.

I apologized to the clients in person, but I need to publicly apologize for allowing this to happen in the first place. Not only to clients but to my team. I am taking full responsibility for the actions yesterday that could have been deadly. I was not a good mentor in that scenario. There should be no situation ever where anyone feels used, abandoned, or risked.

For clients and owners alike, if your pig is outdoors and does not have a shady place with good air flow to provide trims, we cannot trim them when it is above 90°. We will reschedule you or make adjustments to the travel to ensure the safety of both your animals and us as the trimmers.

Welcome to Her Animals Hoof Care!

We appreciate the interest in our business and can't thank you enough for considering us as your trimming team.

About us:

We are a wife and husband duo who has been trimming full time since March of 2023. When my life path sent me to Texas, I [Tori] spent six months in 2022 apprenticing under The Mini Pig Farrier from April to October just before they retired.

We are a file-only, flip the pig method team trimmer. We do not use sedation or restraints like ropes and snares. Our primary tools are the Hoof Boss and Milwaukee rotary with a diamond drum.

Residing in Alvin, TX we travel from our location in surrounding areas in a 3-4 hour radius. We typically offer a Houston area route once a week. Our Houston routes include areas in Beaumont, Lufkin, Crockett, College Station, and Brenham. Areas outside of Houston must be scheduled with at least 4 stops.

Areas in red on the Coverage Map require a minimum of 4 stops at full price to make the route feasible. Those areas are where we struggle to get our name out there and cannot afford the travel for less than 4 stops. Standalone pricing is $230 plus $1.50/mile from our location.

Our goals:

We aim to be a source of education and community support. It is our privilege to provide material, the hard work of our mentors, and their science backed knowledge for pigs to their caretakers.

Offering prey mentality, emotionally aware, compassionate hoof care. We are committed to providing each animal with balanced hooves to the benefit of the individual animal while putting their safety and comfort at the forefront of our services.

Our training:

A recent health scare with Michael has encouraged the increased training of others. We need your help to provide the ability to train the next teams in the same methods we use.

Every step of the way we are there to guide and support our teams until they have the knowledge and confidence in their skill set. We use graphic material, guided hands-on learning, and situational education to prepare our teams for as many scenarios as possible that arise with providing care to animals.

⚠️🚨 TEXAS TRAVELERS 🚨⚠️
THE SCREW WORM IS SPREADING

For people traveling to/from Texas, especially those making stops at individual farms, please be sure you're sanitizing your equipment (boots especially) after every stop.

I spent the morning cleaning out the car. I sanitized my entire pack out case, deep cleaned my boots, the knee pads, and my floor mats in the car.

A deep clean and sanitize is what will be added to the "to-do" list every week until we have a better idea of how quickly the screw worm is moving.

What we do know is that one new case is in Andrews County, nearly 400 miles north of Zavala County, where the first case was reported last week. The case in Andrews County included an infested dog. Another case included a goat in Gillespie County.

OWNERS

If you do not currently have a p**p protocol, now is the time to build one. The smell of open wounds, old decaying p**p, and anything rotting can attract this fly. Reduce the likelihood of this fly coming your way by setting up fly traps and keeping the livestock area clean.

Every day you should check over your critters for open wounds. Keeping those clean and covered with antibiotics is going to be the hardest most trying part, but it will guarantee your animals are not a victim of this horrible insect.

Shared to our TikTok, but we seem to always get more traffic over here for our reels.

This is Dylan working on his SECOND pig. He throws us some comedic relief at the end.

Sidenote; while I may be really good at what I do, my brain and mouth do not hold hands while verbalizing my teaching. After every trim, no matter if on toes or dews, you want to smooth the surface so they aren't weapons of mass destruction all the time.

Freshly trimmed nails are all always sharp. Ever been pawed by a dog after a nail trim? Same concept.

Gatesville/Waco
Houston
Beaumont

Thursday's and Saturday's may be our best option for bookings except for when FIFA is playing. We will not be traveling the days that FIFA is going to create massive travel delays.
