Meet Coco, our newest board & train client.  Coco is a sweet and spunky little girl who is starting her training journey with loose leash walking. Loose leash walking is an important skill for a dog to learn because it creates calmer, safer, and more enjoyable walks for both dog and handler. Training loose leash walking helps build focus, communication, and confidence.  Dogs learn that paying attention to their handler leads to guidance, rewards, and successful adventures.  It also reduces frustration and overstimulation. Along with leash manners, Coco is working on her cues to strengthen her obedience foundation and improve her responsiveness in everyday situations. Clear communication and repetition help dogs understand expectations, making life less stressful and more predictable for them.

In these videos, what you don’t see or hear (because the sound is muted) is Coco walking past a field where dogs are barking. The barking created a major distraction, but Coco did a fantastic job ignoring it and staying focused on Eric.

We are so excited to watch Coco continue building confidence, skills, and great habits during her training journey.

Happy 9th Birthday to our boy, Duke!

Nine years of living with a Husky/Malamute means nine years of personality turned all the way up. These dogs are known for their intelligence, independence, and just enough stubbornness to keep life interesting. They’re talkers, thinkers, explorers, and professional mischief makers.

And then there’s Duke…

He is affectionate, loving, and demands cuddles on his terms. He is goofy in the best way, turning ordinary moments into something memorable. He is playful and sharp, always watching, always figuring things out. And yes, he is stubborn and opinionated, never shy about telling you exactly how he feels, usually at full volume with a little back talk thrown in.

Life with Duke has never been quiet, never boring, and never anything less than full of love.

Here’s to 9 years of conversations, cuddles, sass, and joy. We wouldn’t trade a single second.

German Shepherds are something special. They’re known for their loyalty, their intelligence, their athleticism, and the kind of love that runs deep and steady. They protect, they comfort, and they become more than pets, they become family. The kind of dog that stands by your side through everything, always watching, always loving.

And then there’s our girl, Piper who somehow managed to take all that and make it even better.

Happy 9th Birthday to the most incredible pup. Piper is extremely loyal, loving, sassy, and the best companion and friend we could have ever asked for. She’s always had a big personality and an even bigger attitude when she feels like it, and we wouldn’t change a single thing about her.

From day one, she’s been the best of the best. The easiest puppy, never chewed or destroyed anything, just an all around wonderful girl who made life better the moment she came home. She’s filled our hearts and our home with so much joy and love, and she continues to do so every single day.

We’re so lucky to have her. Happy 9th Birthday Big Girl!

Meet Axel, a fun loving, happy-go-lucky 5 1/2 month Labradoodle puppy at the beginning of his training journey.

Axel is focusing on Recall Foundations (Making it a Game). With puppies, the goal is to build a positive association with the recall cue by turning practice into an engaging game. That’s why Eric is tossing treats and calling Axel back. It’s not “bribing,” it’s building a reflex (name/word equals sprint to my human equals party happens.

When Eric throws a treat, Axel gets to chase (instant dopamine), then Eric calls him back for another reward. Axel learns two things:

1. Coming back is always worth it.
2. Checking in with your human is part of the fun.

Training at this age is not about perfection. It’s about building a puppy who thinks, “when my person calls, I win”.

We’d like to introduce Jags, our newest house-wolf and member of our family. We’ve spent the past week getting acquainted and loving on her. She’s a 9 week old Dutch Shepherd who’s confident, curious, mischievous, a little mouthy, and already overflowing with attitude.

She delivers short, enthusiastic bursts of chaos especially after meals or baths like a tiny little Gremlin on a mission. Her kisses are sweet and affectionate, and then immediately followed by a little chomp because love is confusing and her teeth are brand new.

In short, she’s a tiny tactical genius in a fuzzy body, powered by naps, mayhem, and the unshakable belief that our household exists to entertain her (it does 😊).

Poppy and Bandit put in excellent work yesterday with Mikaila, continuing to build reliable heeling skills and stronger neutrality around distractions.

Structured exposure, clear expectations, and repetition are what create dependable real-world behavior. Poppy and Bandit are making steady progress each session, and their effort is showing.

Meet Poppy!

Like her brother Bandit, she is with us for our Board & Train program to focus on heeling and recall through structured exposure and confidence building work. She’s learning how to stay engaged with her handler and make calm choices around real world distractions.

Our goal is a dog who can move through new environments with resilience, respond promptly, and remain focused even when the world gets busy.

Our priorities are:
•Focused heeling in stimulating settings
•Consistent recall around distractions
•Exposure work to support confidence and neutrality

We are proud of Poppy’s progress and look forward to sharing more as she continues.
