Despite my copious amount of college degrees, I find nothing I have been formally trained to do as exciting as cake decorating. Consequently, I turned my passion into a business and voila, Sophistcake was born. Conveniently, I am able to operate from home and take care of my husband and young daughter at the same time as I do something I love. Our household also serves as a permanent home for two
pudgy beagles and usually for a foster beagle through the BREW beagle rescue organization. Accordingly, I cannot guarantee a 100% dog-hair free cake, although I take every precaution to ensure there are none in or on my cakes. I am not licensed by the State of Ohio because of my pets. Instead I operate under the Ohio Cottage Laws. I have always appreciated beautifully decorated cakes and finally took the initiative to begin baking professionally in 2009. I love learning new techniques and constantly add to my creative abilities by taking classes and attending shows. Martha Stewart is one of my inspirations, as are the wonderfully creative ladies at Wild Flour Bakery in Rocky River, Ohio.
