Gus and Alfie have started working on their side-by-side training as part of their Leash-Free + Community Bundle Program!
Learning to work together is an important skill, especially for housemates. The goal is for each dog to stay focused on their handler and follow commands reliably, even when their favorite training partner is right beside them. For two big boys like Gus and Alfie, coordinating all those legs, tails, and personal space is definitely a work in progress—but they're catching on quickly!
These sessions help build impulse control, focus, and the ability to work both together and independently. As they continue practicing, they'll learn that even when their brother is nearby, it's still important to pay attention, follow directions, and make good choices.
We're proud of the progress these boys are making and can't wait to see their teamwork continue to improve. Keep up the great work, Gus and Alfie! 🐾💙

🐾 Training Update: Cade 🐾
Cade has been hard at work learning his Go Lay Down command as part of our Community Program!
This valuable skill teaches Cade to go to a designated spot, settle calmly, and remain there until released. While it may look simple, "Go Lay Down" is one of the most practical commands a dog can learn. It helps create calm behavior at home, makes it easier to manage guests, and gives owners a reliable way to help their dog relax in busy environments.
Cade is doing a great job building his foundation skills and learning how to stay focused on his handler. Each training session helps improve his confidence, self-control, and ability to make good choices, even when distractions are present.

Pearl has joined us for our Community Program, where she will be building the skills needed to become a confident, well-mannered companion both at home and out in public. During her training, she'll learn important obedience commands while practicing how to stay focused and make great choices around real-world distractions.
From busy parks and shopping areas to everyday outings, Pearl will be learning how to remain calm, attentive, and responsive no matter what is happening around her. These skills help create a dog that is easier to live with and gives her family the confidence to include her in more adventures together.

🐾 Training Update: Coosa 🐾
Coosa has been working hard on her down stay, and she's making great progress! This important foundation command teaches her not only how to lie down, but also how to remain calm, focused, and patient until she's released.
Down stays are a valuable skill both at home and in public. They help dogs learn self-control, settle around distractions, and make better choices instead of reacting to everything happening around them. Each successful repetition helps build Coosa's confidence and understanding of what's being asked of her.
As part of her Community Program, Coosa will continue practicing these skills in new environments and around increasing distractions, helping her become a well-mannered companion wherever life takes her family.

Training Update: Gunner 🐾

Gunner has been hard at work not only polishing his obedience skills but also making great progress with his service dog tasks! Today, he practiced retrieving a dropped item using an easy-to-pick-up dumbbell as a training tool.

What makes today’s session extra exciting is that Gunner is beginning to understand that the job doesn’t end when he picks up the item. He’s starting to connect the dots that he needs to bring the item all the way back and place it directly into his handler’s hand. That’s a big step in the learning process and an important skill for a future service dog!

Service dog training is built on lots of small victories that eventually become life-changing skills, and Gunner is proving that consistency and practice pay off. We’re proud of the progress he’s making and can’t wait to see his confidence continue to grow as he puts all the pieces together. Keep up the great work, Gunner! 🐾❤️ ‼️

Petey is hard at work getting started in her Leash-Free + Community Bundle Program! Every great training journey begins with a strong foundation, and she's already making great progress as she learns the skills that will help her succeed both at home and out in the real world.
During this session, Petey worked on learning her Go Lay Down command. This valuable skill teaches her to go to a designated place, settle calmly, and remain there until released. Whether it's relaxing while guests are visiting, settling during family meals, or staying calm in public settings, this command becomes an incredibly useful part of everyday life.
As Petey continues through her program, we'll be building on this foundation while adding more obedience, leash-free reliability, and real-world distractions. She's off to a fantastic start, and we're excited to watch her confidence and skills continue to grow.

Please join us in welcoming Azul to The Dogs Spot family! 💙
Azul has officially started our Service Dog Program, where she will be learning important skills to better support her handler, including Deep Pressure Therapy (DPT). This task teaches Azul to provide calm, steady pressure when needed, helping bring comfort and support during stressful or overwhelming situations.
Every great service dog starts with a solid foundation, and Azul is no exception. She'll be building her obedience skills, learning to stay focused around distractions, and developing the confidence needed to work successfully in a variety of environments. As she progresses through her program, we'll continue adding advanced service tasks that will help her become a reliable partner for her handler.

Training Update: Maximus 🐾
Maximus spent part of his day working on one of the most important skills in any training program—recall! Today, he practiced coming when called, helping build a stronger connection with his handler and reinforcing that returning promptly is always the right choice.
A reliable recall is about much more than obedience. It's a critical safety skill that allows owners to call their dog away from distractions, other animals, or potentially dangerous situations. Every successful repetition helps Maximus understand that checking in with his handler is rewarding and worthwhile.
As his training progresses, we're continuing to build speed, enthusiasm, and reliability into his recall. We want Maximus to come quickly and confidently every time he's called, regardless of what's happening around him. These sessions help strengthen his focus while teaching him that staying connected with his handler is more rewarding than any distraction he may encounter.
Maximus has been making great progress and continues to show us that he's eager to learn. The hard work he's putting in now will help create a dog that his family can trust and enjoy taking on all kinds of adventures in the future.

Training Update: Bailey 🐾
Bailey spent some time outside today working on his recall, practicing short-distance recalls to help build a strong foundation for this important skill. While it may seem simple, starting with shorter distances allows Bailey to learn exactly what is expected and build confidence before adding more distance and distractions.
Recall is one of the most valuable commands a dog can learn because it teaches them to immediately return to their handler when called. Every successful repetition helps Bailey understand that coming when called is rewarding and fun, creating a response that is both reliable and enthusiastic.
Training outside adds a new challenge with interesting smells, sounds, and sights competing for Bailey's attention. Despite these distractions, he worked hard to stay focused and make good choices. These early successes will help prepare him for longer recalls and more challenging environments as his training progresses.
We're proud of the progress Bailey is making and the effort he's putting into every training session. Building a great recall takes time, consistency, and practice, and Bailey is off to a fantastic start. Keep up the great work, Bailey! 🐾❤️

A big congratulations to Mushu on graduating our Community Program! 🎉

Mushu has put in a lot of work learning how to stay focused, follow commands, and remain successful around the distractions of everyday life. Community training isn’t just about obedience—it’s about helping dogs learn how to confidently navigate the world while staying connected to their handler.

Throughout his program, Mushu continued building his skills in new environments and proved that he is capable of making great choices even when exciting things are happening around him. His family now has a stronger communication system and a solid training foundation to continue growing together.

Congratulations, Mushu! We are proud of all the progress you’ve made and can’t wait to see what comes next for you. ❤️🐾
