The epitome of a Low Stress visit! Gotta love a cat who is so calm that he can just snooze at the vet clinic!

Time to share a little good news! Last month, our team was faced with a difficult situation. The tiniest puppy of a litter (less than 1 month old) presented for inappetence, diarrhea, and retching. Our tests confirmed the biggest fear: Parvovirus! For those who don’t know, parvo is a gastrointestinal virus that is HIGHLY contagious, and in many cases, it can be fatal. Young puppies that are still nursing are the least likely to survive. We hospitalized Tiny and discussed the risks for the rest of the litter and mom. Within only a few hours, mom was symptomatic too. We ended up hospitalizing mom and the whole litter to give them their best chance. Through diligent treatment (including staff and doctors coming in every few hours through the night), monitoring, and syringe feeding those who needed it, our team brought the whole family through the ordeal! Everyone lived! Now, 1 month later, the whole litter paid us a visit to start their vaccines! They’ll be ready to go to their new homes soon! We are so thankful to our team, to the owners who allowed us to give the intensive care, and for specialized treatments such as ozone therapy and the monoclonal antibody parvo treatment that allowed us to bring this story to a happy end!

Dr. Jess here! Fun story: I pulled 8 ticks off my own horse yesterday, and one off of myself! As a reminder, ticks are nasty and they are EVERYWHERE! We have many options for prevention for all kinds of different animals. Come see us soon!

Happy Veterinary Reception Appreciation week to our wonderful reception team! Nina, Josh, and Larissa are usually our clients’ first point of contact. They are there to help answer questions, quickly assess what’s going on, provide comfort during stressful times, and get you scheduled so your pet can get the help they need. Our air conditioning is out, so things got a bit toasty yesterday. Through the day, our lobby was anywhere from 76-80* F! So let’s have a little fun with a pop quiz!

When that nap hits juuuust right!!! Miss Frankie had to have an uncomfortable procedure the other day. Our team prioritizes Low Stress Handling, which sometimes involves a little pharmacological assistance! We believe everyone deserves as comfortable and safe a visit as possible! Frankie got her little standing snooze, and she was able to get back to business as usual in no time!
