What a perfect post. All dog personalities and needs are different just like people. They need to be matched with the right humans. And do your research! There are plenty of dogs that will fit your lifestyle but plenty that won’t, so don’t take on something you aren’t up for. They don’t deserve the confusion or let downs.

Meet Tanner. A walking Red Bull commercial with absolutely ZERO interest in living a quiet, respectable life. This boy wakes up every morning like somebody just yelled “SPRING BREAK, BITCHES!” and proceeds to make that everyone else’s problem. 😂
But underneath all that chaos is a story that genuinely pi**es us off.
Tanner was dumped at the shelter in March. He’s been sitting at Rusty’s Rescue Ranch for approximately FOUR MONTHS, and this poor boy has already been adopted and returned MULTIPLE TIMES. He’s even been returned from foster.
WHY?
Because he’s energetic.
WELL, HOLY S**T, SHERLOCK. YOU ADOPTED A HIGH-ENERGY DOG AND HE CAME WITH HIGH ENERGY. WHAT AN UNFORESEEN CATASTROPHE. 🤦♀️
Tanner isn’t a decorative throw pillow. He’s not a houseplant. He’s not going to spend 19 hours a day contemplating the meaning of life while you binge-watch Netflix.
He’s a full-time party coordinator, an unpaid personal trainer, and the self-appointed president of the Neighborhood Shenanigans Committee.
And guess what? THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT.
This boy needs someone who actually ENJOYS having an active dog. Someone who wants to hike, explore, train, play, and occasionally question their life choices while chasing a dog who has stolen something and turned it into an Olympic sporting event.
🐾 LET’S DISCUSS THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF THIS FURRY LITTLE FELONY:
⚡ HIGH ENERGY. Not mildly energetic. Not “likes a nice evening stroll.” We’re talking about a dog who probably dreams in NASCAR.
🐱 CAT FRIENDLY! Apparently, Tanner has decided the feline population is acceptable company.
👧 GOOD WITH KIDS OVER FIVE! But babies? Absolutely fu***ng not. This boy has the enthusiasm of a drunk uncle at a wedding reception and the spatial awareness of a shopping cart with one broken wheel.
🏃 FLIGHT RISK! Tanner occasionally believes he’s auditioning for The Fast and the Furious: Canine Edition. Secure containment and responsible management are NONNEGOTIABLE.
🎉 GREAT IN PUBLIC! He loves an adventure and would probably introduce himself to the entire population of a Home Depot if you gave him the opportunity.
🧠 NEEDS TRAINING AND ENRICHMENT! Not just tossing him in a backyard and expecting him to magically develop the personality of a retired accountant.
Now here’s where we’re going to get a little fu***ng serious.
Every single time this dog gets returned, he loses the stability he was just starting to build.
He doesn’t understand that somebody decided he was too much work. He doesn’t understand why the people who took him home aren’t coming back.
He just knows he’s starting over.
AGAIN.
And AGAIN.
And we’re sick of watching perfectly good dogs get bounced around because people fall in love with the IDEA of a dog instead of taking the time to understand the actual animal standing in front of them.
TANNER IS NOT A BAD DOG. HE IS A HIGH-ENERGY DOG WHO NEEDS A HOME THAT ACTUALLY WANTS A HIGH-ENERGY DOG.
We don’t need 400 people applying because he’s cute and then discovering three days later that he has the cardiovascular endurance of a cocaine-fueled kangaroo.
We need ONE person. ONE family. Someone who looks at this ridiculous, enthusiastic, lovable lunatic and says, “Yep. That’s exactly the kind of chaos I’ve been looking for.”
Because behind the frat-boy personality and the Olympic-level tomfoolery is a dog who deserves to unpack his imaginary suitcase FOR THE LAST FU***NG TIME. 💔

He needs somebody who finally loves the dog he already is. 🖤🐾
