This is Blanquita's story.

A few weeks ago, a post popped up on my feed asking if anyone wanted to give this dog a home. I told myself that I couldn't bring any more dogs home because of school and all that and I was sure this dog would surely get adopted.

A few weeks later, I saw another post. No one had adopted her yet.
I held it together for one day before I messaged the business and said we would take Blanquita in.

The nice lady from the business got her ready and gave her a nice bath and got her a pretty sweater. Blanquita was ready to leave the streets! I'm so thankful for the kind people in this business that have looked after this dog and tried hard to find her a home. They have kept her fed and safe.

Well, today my husband was on his way to get her when the lady calls and says that Blanquita actually has owners and they said she wasn't up for adoption. This couple lives in the street in a makeshift shed they made out of tarps close to this business where Blanquita spent a lot of her time. I told her that we would still go over to see if we could talk to them.

As we were arriving, the lady told us that the couple visited her business again, Blanquita in their arms, and said that they thought about it and they wanted Blanquita to have a better future and not live in the street anymore! They were willing to surrender her as long as they got updates and pictures every now and then. They said they loved her so much but they wanted the best for her.

Is that not the greatest act of selfless love? They let her go so she could have a better life. I held my tears in.

So we scooped up Blanquita and now she's at home taking a decompressing nap.

Blanquita is a sweetheart. She's tiny but so loving and friendly. I'm glad we get to help her and her family out.

Dogs like Blanquita don't deserve to live in the street. But neither do humans. We want to help out Blanquita's family. If you have any canned food and non-perishable food items, toiletries, blankets, socks, anything that you think can help this couple, please send me a message so we can arrange pick up.

If you would like to sponsor Blanquita, please send me a message as well :)

Thank you all! I'll give you an update once Blanquita is out of her shell.

Today is Erik's and my anniversary. I know I don't usually talk about our lives this way, but this has a point. Bear with me lol

Instead of Erik being here to celebrate with me, he's coming from Florida because he is transporting Simba, a little dog who was separated from his family when ICE kidnapped them.

When I first saw Simba's post, it tugged at my heart. I told Erik about him and asked if he could help by transporting him. He immediately said yes. He did tell me that it meant he wouldn't be in El Paso for our anniversary, but we both decided that helping this dog was worth it.

Erik didn't have to transport Simba. He didn't have to agree to spend our anniversary on the road. But he still did it.

I'm thankful that I'm married to someone who is kind to every, and I mean EVERY, animal we've ever encountered. He does so much to make sure all of our dogs have food, toys, beds, veterinary care, love. He helps other people whenever he can. And when an animal needs someone to step up, he does.

So, while we're spending our anniversary apart this year, I can't think of a better reason to be apart.

Happy anniversary, Erik.

I'm happy to be married to someone who would choose to spend our anniversary helping a little dog get back to safety.

One of the worst parts about rescue is when you post an innocent post about a dog or asking for help and, somehow, it reaches a lot of people and instead of getting actual help, you are bombarded with ugly, mean, uneducated, and judgmental comments. People really sit there and somehow find something horrible to say to a post that is literally screaming "Help!"

Lately posting on this page has been difficult because of this reason. The joy I get out of posting updates of my dogs and connecting with people here is kinda over because people suck.

What's the point of posting if instead of getting dogs adopted, people come here and unleash all their pent up frustrations?

Do you really think that after a long day that starts at 5:30 am so I can take care of the dogs, go to school, take care of my house, do homework, take care of me, and finally when I lay down at 1am, I really need to come and read a comment that says "your posts are ragebait", "what kind of rescue are you if you can't help", "aren't you a rescue?", "why would you post this if this doesnt have a happy ending?"

Go touch grass.

If you have time to post something horrible to someone who is asking for help or, in this case, someone who is only trying to help an animal, then YOU have too much time on your hands because YOU are not rescuing enough dogs.
Someone busy helping doesn't have time to post ugly things.

Edit: we have tons of comments but 0 help so far. So before you comment something to judge or stupid, offer help. Thanks...

All these pups are in the desert and they need immediate help. I've been told that whoever is in charge of this area (Horizon) "can't" help.
I dont have anything to give them nor can I take them all in.

Are there any rescues that can help?
This is heartbreaking.

About a week ago, my husband showed me this dog from one of the dog groups in Juarez. We were completely smitten by him as he looks exactly as one of our other dogs and she has the swetest personality.
The post stated that the person who fed this pup daily moved to another city and was trying to find someone to look after him or adopt him. We decided it would be us!

So my husband was finally able to go to Mexico to look for this pup today and, to our surprise, he found him! One of the neighbors took him in and said my husband was welcome to take him as his older dog wanted to attack him and he just wanted the best for the dog.

The poor dog was full of ticks so my husband began removing them in the back of the truck. Sigh...but then some kids passed by and they said the dog was theirs.

This is a young pup that never got fed, full of ticks, that runs up and down the street the whole day, and whose puppy friends have been run over. Even the neighbor talked to them about the condition the dog was in.
My husband had no choice but to return the pup.

It's disheartening that the parents are ignorant and/or cruel and can't teach their kids how to take care of a pup. They view their dogs as an object. The cycle will continue and these kids will grow up to neglect their pets as well, as this is their "normal". Respect for animals starts in childhood.

This dog deserves better so my husband is going to go tomorrow and talk to their parents and maybe, if they still object, buy the pup from them.

Sometimes you do what you got to do.
Hopefully I have a better update tomorrow.
