💔💔 PAMI & YIN: TWO DOGS - TWO DEATHS - AND NOW I AM ARMED WITH 114 EMAILS!. 💔
On May 5, 2023, Pami #51798 and Yin #51926 were SENSELESSLY euthanized at Beaumont Animal Care.
That day, I silently promised them that I would not let their deaths be in vain. Three years later, I'm still keeping that promise.
I was later told these dogs had behavioral problems. But look at the documented evidence from the time.
🔴 Pami's System Sheet sheet says “Stir Crazy” and “Length of Stay.”
🔴 Yin's says “Stir Crazy.”
Neither says behavioral problems. (Back then, the reason animals were made Code Red, was written on the System Sheets in red marker by staff and sent to us via messenger to Friends of BAC with the list of new Code Red dogs every week).
And “stir crazy” is NOT the same as a documented dangerous behavioral issue. Dogs going "stir crazy" means dogs can suffer tremendous kennel stress after prolonged confinement—pacing, barking, jumping, restlessness and frustration.
Now look at their public adoption posts from back then.
Pami was still advertised as “Available for Adoption, Foster, or Rescue Pull” and her bio said she had a kennel mate and “does well with her.”
Yin was also available for public adoption. His bio said he shared a kennel with an older dog, “respects his boundaries and will leave him alone.”
At BAC, when a dog has behavioral concerns serious enough that direct adoption could present safety concerns to the general public, the practice is to designate that dog as “RESCUE ONLY”—allowing an experienced 501(c)(3) rescue, rather than the general public, to pull the dog.
Pami and Yin were NOT being advertised as Rescue Only. They were still being offered to the PUBLIC for adoption ‼️
And here's what makes their deaths even harder to accept:
THEY WERE NOT GIVEN EVEN ONE EXTENSION KNOWING THERE WERE 21 EMPTY KENNELS ‼️
At the time, I documented 21 empty indoor kennels. I took video of the entire empty outside run of 13 kennels. (There were 8 empty ones in the Quarantine Room).
So PLEASE ask yourself:
If Pami and Yin supposedly had behavioral problems serious enough to justify euthanasia, why were they still available for PUBLIC adoption?
And if they were simply becoming “stir crazy” from kennel confinement, why weren't they moved to available kennel space on the outside run and given even one extension?
What happened afterward is another reason I have never stopped speaking about this.
Rather than what I believed warranted a meaningful investigation into the euthanasia of these two happy, healthy, adoptable dogs and the evidence I was presenting, I was accused of violating the volunteer Code of Conduct and Code of Ethics‼️
To this day, I have not been provided documentation that substantiates this alleged misconduct attributed to me‼️
And that raises another question that deserves an answer:
Why wasn't the same level of scrutiny directed toward what happened to Pami and Yin❓❓❓
Had the underlying circumstances been fully examined by Beaumont City Council as I requested, the records I'm showing you now were there to be examined: their System Sheets, their adoption bios on their posts, their public-adoption status, and the available kennel space.
I am not asking you to take MY word for it.
LOOK AT THE DOCUMENTS‼️ WATCH THE VIDEO‼️ LOOK AT THE EMPTY KENNELS‼️
Then decide for yourself whether Pami and Yin were given every reasonable opportunity to leave BAC alive‼️
I made those two innocent dogs a promise on May 5, 2023:
💔🙏 I WOULD NOT LET THEIR DEATHS BE IN VAIN. 💔🙏
🥹 I haven't forgotten that promise.
💔 And I haven't forgotten Pami and Yin. 💔

‼️‼️Skye was literally just on the Code Red list for 8.6.26! ‼️‼️
🔺 NOT that we want ANY of the dogs to be code red - but this shows how inconsistent BAC is. If there's a SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) on this - which there SHOULD be in their Operating Manual - they aren't following it. It's the same as I always say - either:
🔘 1. They pick and choose who they do "favors" for - or break the rules for.
🔘 2. They don't know how to do their jobs.
🔘 3. They're showing favoritism to certain dogs.
🔘 4. What about ALL THE OTHER DOGS who GET returned and immediately put back on Code Red status?
🔺 ANYTIME A DOG LOSES IT'S FOSTER FAMILY IT IMMEDIATELY GOES ON CODE RED STATUS. EXCEPT, RECENTLY PICKLE POP LOST HER FOSTER AND DID NOT GET MADE CODE RED WHEN SHE WAS BROUGHT BACK TO THE SHELTER. WHAT ABOUT ALL THE OTHER DOGS THAT LOST THEIR FOSTER FAMILIES AND WERE BROUGHT BACK TO THE SHELTER AND IMMEDIATELY MADE CODE RED?
🔺 ANYTIME A DOG IS ADOPTED WHO WAS ON A CODE RED LIST - WHEN THEY GET RETURNED, THEY ARE ALWAYS IMMEDIATELY PUT AS CODE RED - SO WHY ARE THEY MAKING AN EXCEPTION FOR SKYE?
🔺 AGAIN - I NEVER WANT TO SEE A DOG GET PUT ON A CODE RED LIST. BUT,
🔘 #1. WHAT DOES THE SOP (STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURE) SAY REGARDING THIS ISSUE?
🔘 #2. WHY DO THEY ALWAYS MAKE OTHER DOGS WHO HAVE BEEN RETURNED FROM FOSTER OR AN ADOPTER - AS CODE RED STATUS?
🔘 #3. WHY ARE THEY MAKING AN EXCEPTION OR SHOWING FAVORITISM FOR SKYE?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
🔺WHAT THEY HAVE ON HER BIO SINCE RETURNING TO SHELTER:
Available for adoption, foster, rescue pull!
Meet Skye -142458! She was adopted from the shelter recently, but due to unexpected changes in the home, the family decided to bring her back. Like most Heelers, Skye is an energetic girl who thrives when she has room to run, play, and explore. She can be a little wary of new people at first, but with a little patience and kindness, she quickly starts to warm up and show her affectionate side. Skye's favorite place is outside, where she can zoom through the grass, roll around in the sunshine, and enjoy every moment. She has done well with other dogs and is currently sharing a kennel with two canine companions. Skye would thrive in an active home that can keep both her mind and body engaged while giving her the love and guidance she deserves.
Age: 1 year
S*x: Female
Weight: 39 lbs
‼️‼️‼️ REGARDING THE KITTEN STUCK IN PVC PIPE AT STEWART TITLE IN JUNE ‼️‼️‼️
⁉️ REMEMBER THE POSTS RECENTLY, CIRCULATING AROUND ABOUT BAC AND A KITTEN STUCK IN A PVC PIPE AT A STEWART TITLE?
‼️ I RECORDED THE ANIMAL CARE ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEETING YESTERDAY. SO HERE IS AN EXERPT, WORD FOR WORD, FROM THE MEETING REGARDING THE KITTEN STUCK IN THE PVC PIPE!
🔹MATT: Well, we go back and listen to phone records, we have access to all our dispatch logs, all the calls that come in thru 311. The person that called this in twice gave the wrong address which was a quarter mile from where the actual call should have been. By the time the officer got there the business was closed and he wasn't able to get ahold of who called it in, so he looked around the address he'd been given and eventually once the call got situated and we found out where it was, in this particular case it was a cat and the cat was rescued. We mada a post about it and we did say that if we'd had the right address we could have handled this sooner.
🔹ME: "They didn't leave the name of the business? They didn't leave the name of the business WITH the address?
🔹MATT: "I'll have to look at it, i don't remember that - but the point is this, is we want to stress to our committee members if you're seeing posts like this, a lot of times it's gonna be a post, not our own, a post that anyone makes and you see negative comments going back and forth concerning this. Instead of tagging council members and going into it with them in the comments, please call us. As a committee member, please call the shelter, call any of our staff members so that we can clarify what the information is out there is correct or accurate. 90% of the time this is all inaccurate and it just, the way it affects our staffs moral is unbelievable. I know you probably seen some of the things i'm referring to, you may not have - but your fortunate, but our staff works hard day in and day out to do the best job that they can and when they get on to social media or have people call them and say have you seen this and this - it's just unbelievable . So we just want to make sure as far as the committee, if you're seeing these things, be sure and reach out to us personally, instead of going thru higher up chain of command because its just gonna funnel right back to us. So we need to be the eyes and ears there, we need to let you know as the committee, what's actually taking place.
🔹COMMITTEE MEMBER: Everybody has their opinion and thinks things can be done a better way, it can be done their way, but especially when you guys have a protocol to follow thru the city.
➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖
🔹I would like to emphasize where Matt specifically says they already listened to the recordings. Why does he have to go back and listen to them AGAIN to ascertain whether they included the name of the business when they left the address? Because I would think that if they were a business they would automatically give the name of the business in the 311 call.
🔹Notice how fast Matt dismissed my common sense question? Since he chose to use this as an example of misinformation on posts and facts - I thought my question was just common sense.
‼️‼️‼️I would like to emphasize what the committee member said at the end - and this is a point of mine that I post about regularly. BAC HAS A PROTOCAO THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO FOLLOW. And as we can see - this is not always the case. How do they explain that a neighbor has been calling since 2022 regarding a specific address and regarding the welfare of more than one dog and going out there repeatedly (the times they did respond) and continuously leaving the animals with the owners to continue to suffer?
08/13/2026
‼️😡‼️ THE DOGS ARE STILL GOING TO BE COLD — AND NOW FY28? ‼️😡‼️
😡 YET AGAIN, THE PERMANENT SOLUTION FOR THE OUTSIDE RUN IS BEING PUSHED FURTHER INTO THE FUTURE.😡
❓ KNOWING EVERYTHING I'VE BROUGHT UP REGARDING THE OUTSIDE RUN - WHERE IS THE URGENCY BY THE ANIMAL CARE ADVISORY COMMITTEE?
‼️ WE ALREADY KNOW, SINCE THE OUTSIDE RUN WAS BUILT IN 2019, THAT BAC DOESN'T CONSIDER THIS AN ISSUE, LET ALONE - URGENT - FOR THESE ANIMALS.
‼️ IF THIS COMMITTEE IS AN "ANIMAL CARE ADVISORY COMMITTEE", THEN THIS IS PRECISELY THE KIND OF ISSUE WHERE I WOULD EXPECT THE COMMITTEE MEMBERS TO BE ASKING HARD QUESTIONS ON BEHALF OF THE ANIMALS!
‼️ HOW ARE WE GOING TO PROTECT THESE DOGS UNTIL THE PERMANENT SOLUTION IS ACTUALLY COMPLETED?
‼️WHAT MEASURABLE EVIDENCE DEMONSTRATES THAT THE CURRENT ARRANGEMENT IS ADEQUATE DURING EXTREME TEMPERATURES? (EXTREME BEING UNDER 50 DEGREES) (TARPS & EXTRA BEDDING)?
‼️BASICALLY THE COMMITTEE IS SAYING THAT WHAT BAC HAS ALREADY BEEN DOING - IS ACCEPTABLE - (PROVIDING TARPS & EXTRA BEDDING)‼️THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE ‼️
➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖
😡We are now being told that proposed projects to enclose the outside run at Beaumont Animal Care are being pushed to FY28‼️
And in the meantime, the proposed solution is:
“HANG TARPS AND PROVIDE ADDITIONAL BLANKETS.”
❓HOW DOES A BLANKET WARM A DOG THAT CANNOT WRAP ITSELF IN THE BLANKET? ❓
➡️Yes, bedding can provide insulation and help reduce heat loss from a dog's body against a cold surface.
➡️But bedding DOES NOT HEAT THE AIR.
➡️If it is 25°F outside, and you put a blanket on the floor:
➡️IT IS STILL 25°F.
➡️The dog is still BREATHING 25°F air.
➡️And a tarp may block some wind and rain, but A TARP ISN'T A HEATING SYSTEM EITHER.
➡️That's the DISTINCTION they are missing.
‼️😡INSULATION IS NOT THE SAME THING AS HEAT‼️😡
➡️And these dogs aren't going outside for an hour to play.
➡️They are housed there.
They will spend their entire shelter stay in that environment and if it's winter time when they arrive to BAC - THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE‼️
‼️‼️‼️Texas regulation 25 TAC §169.26 requires adequate shelter to protect animals from cold and inclement weather and requires auxiliary heat OR clean, dry bedding when temperatures fall below 50°F. It also says bedding must be adequate to prevent hypothermia as temperatures drop.‼️‼️‼️
‼️‼️‼️HOW DOES BAC DETERMINE THAT TARPS + BLANKETS ARE ACTUALLY ADEQUATE TO PREVENT HYPOTHERMIA?
Not:
“Do you provide blankets?”
But:
What evidence shows that the dogs are actually protected?
Does BAC measure the temperature INSIDE THE AREAS where these dogs are living?
What is the temperature INSIDE THE OUTSIDE RUNS when it's 35°F OUTSIDE?
35°F? IS THIS SUPPOSED TO BE OK?
What type and amount of bedding is provided? AGAIN, DOGS CAN'T WRAP A BLANKET AROUND THEMSELVES.
What happens when it becomes wet? WITH URINE, CONDENSATION?
What additional protection is provided for puppies, seniors, sick, thin or short-haired dogs?
And most importantly:
‼️WHAT IS THE PLAN FOR THESE DOGS WHILE THE PERMANENT ENCLOSURE PROJECT KEEPS GETTING PUSHED OUT?
‼️‼️Because “we give them blankets” is not the same thing as demonstrating that the environment is safe AND THEY AREN'T MISERABLE AND SUFFERING.
A tarp can block wind and rain.
Bedding can provide SOME insulation.
‼️But neither one changes the fact that the dog is still LIVING IN A COLD ENVIRONMENT.
‼️THE QUESTION ISN'T WHETHER A BLANKET (OR TARP) EXISTS.
➡️THE QUESTION IS WHETHER THE DOG IS ACTUALLY PROTECTED AND COMFORTABLE.
🔻And if BAC says the answer is YES:
🔻🔺SHOW US HOW YOU KNOW🔻🔺
‼️‼️Because these dogs deserve more than another TEMPORARY solution and another promise to WAIT.‼️‼️
‼️‼️‼️They deserve to be warm. They deserve to be protected. And they deserve a permanent solution — not FY28.‼️‼️‼️
🙏🙏🙏 GOD BLESS THE ANIMALS — WE HAVE TO BE THEIR VOICE — IF NOT US, THEN WHO? 🙏🙏🙏
‼️‼️‼️OTHER ITEMS ON ANIMAL CARE ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEETING YESTERDAY (8.12.26)‼️‼️‼️
🔹SHELTER OVERFLOW PILOT PROGRAM $30K (if we can't afford to enclose the outside run and we can't afford a new shelter - where is financing supposed to come from for an overflow shelter)?
🔹 THE TWO FULL TIME POSITIONS ON HOLD DUE TO HIRING FREEZE (so where would staffing for an overflow shelter come from)
🔹SHELTER OUTSIDE RUN ENCLOSURE PROJECT $170K MOVING TO FY28
🔹THE NEW SHELTER NOW ON THE BOOKS FOR FY29
🔹CHALLENGES OF SOCIAL MEDIA MISINFORMATION, IT'S IMPLACT ON STAFF MORAL AND OVERALL PUBLIC PERCEPTION (no doubt I'm included in this subject even though they did not say my name and even though I present facts in my posts)
🔹 INSTRUCT COMMITTEE MEMBERS TO NO LONGER TAG CITY COUNCILMAN MEMBERS ON FB POSTS AND INSTEAD THEY ARE ASKING FOR COMMITTEE MEMBERS TO GO TO THE "SOURCE" (seems to me to violate Freedom of Speech in some form or fashion)
‼️AND I'D LIKE TO POINT OUT THAT FORTENBERRY IS THE SUPERVISOR AT BAC - A MEMBER OF THE COMMITTEE - AND HAS VOTING PRIVILEGES AND THAT THE COMMITTEE IS SUPPOSED TO AT TIMES BE ABLE TO DISCUSS BAC MATTERS PERTAINING TO OPERATIONS, ETC - THIS SEEMS TO ME TO BE A "CONFLICT OF INTEREST" - HE ALSO RUNS THE MEETINGS AS IF HE'S BEEN APPOINTED CHAIRMAN OF THE COMMITTEE WHEN I NO OF NO SUCH APPOINTMENT AND/OR DATE OF APPOINTMENT, NOR DOES IT STATE ANYWHERE IN THE ANIMAL CARE ADVISORY COMMITTEE ORDINANCES, RULES, PROCEDURES, ETC, THAT HE WAS APPOINTED AS SUCH.
‼️‼️SO, FOR INSTANCE THE ISSUE REGARDING THE SHELTER DAYS OPEN FOR ADOPTION, REARRANGING DAYS TO BE OPEN FOR ADOPTIONS ON WEEKENDS AND GIVING THE SHELTER EVENING HOURS TO INCREASE ADOPTIONS ARE NEVER GOING TO BE PUT ON THE AGENDA FOR THE MEETINGS - BECAUSE FORTENBERRY IS ACTING AS CHAIR AND MAKES THE AGENDAS FOR THE MEETINGS AND DECIDES WHAT DOES OR DOESNT GET INCLUDED ON IT - NOT THE COMMITTEE MEMBERS!
‼️‼️‼️The Day Everything Changed ‼️‼️‼️
The Story Behind Why I Found My Voice (with regards to BAC)
People often ask me why I care so much about Beaumont Animal Care.
Why I spend countless hours researching ordinances, attending Animal Care Advisory Committee meetings, writing emails, speaking during public comment, making Code Red lists, and advocating for animals that most people will never meet.
Some people think I have a vendetta.
Some think I simply like to criticize.
Some believe I'm just trying to make Beaumont Animal Care look bad.
The truth is...
None of them know my story.
So today, I want to tell it.
Not because I need sympathy.
Not because I need anyone to agree with me.
But because I want people to understand why I became the person I am today.
When I began volunteering at Beaumont Animal Care in 2021, I wasn't looking for a fight.
I wasn't interested in politics.
I wasn't interested in exposing anyone.
I simply wanted to help save lives.
Like so many volunteers, I believed that if I worked hard enough, networked enough, shared enough dogs, and found enough fosters and adopters, I could make a difference.
And for a while...
I believed I was.
Then came May of 2023.
Two dogs changed my life forever.
Their names were Pami and Yin.
They weren't aggressive.
They weren't suffering from incurable disease.
They weren't beyond help.
They were healthy, adoptable dogs waiting for someone to choose them.
Yet they were placed on the Code Red list.
At the time, I understood that Code Red lists generally existed because of two realities every municipal shelter faces:
Length of stay.
Lack of space.
Those are difficult realities.
I accepted that.
But then something happened that I couldn't reconcile.
I went to the shelter.
Every kennel on the outside run was empty.
Thirteen empty kennels - of which I videod.
I also personally observed 8 empty kennels in quarantine that day.
A TOTAL OF 21 EMPTY KENNELS
I remember standing there looking at those empty kennels and asking myself one simple question:
If there is space...why are these dogs going to die?
That question has never left me.
I tried everything I could to save them.
I continued to network.
I found Chess a foster.
But I couldn't save Pami.
I couldn't save Yin.
They were euthanized.
I was devastated.
Heartbroken.
Confused.
Angry.
Not because euthanasia exists.
But because I couldn't understand why healthy, adoptable dogs had lost their lives when there was available kennel space.
That day changed me.
I realized I had reached a crossroads.
I could stay silent.....or I could speak.
I knew speaking publicly might cost me my ability to continue volunteering.
I knew it would create controversy.
I knew some people would be angry.
I also believed that if the public never knew what had happened, then nothing would ever change.
So I made the hardest decision I had ever made.
I wrote my first public expose.
I contacted the news media.
Not because I hated Beaumont Animal Care.
But because I loved the animals too much to stay silent.
That decision changed my life.
I was no longer simply a volunteer.
I had become an advocate.
Since then, I was banned and no longer allowed to volunteer at the shelter.
I have often been asked why I didn't just walk away.
The answer is simple.
Because Pami and Yin couldn't.
They never got another chance.
Neither did Mina.
Neither did Conroy.
Neither did Baby Sizzle or Cookie Dough.
Their stories didn't end when they died.
Their stories became part of mine.
Today, years later, I attend meetings.
I ask questions.
I research ordinances.
I advocate for transparency.
I fight for better policies, better leadership, and better outcomes for the animals.
Not because I enjoy conflict.
Not because I have a vendetta.
But because I made a promise to myself that those dogs would not be forgotten.
Do I wish things had happened differently?
Absolutely.
I wish Pami had been adopted.
I wish Yin had found a family.
I wish I had never felt compelled to write that first expose.
But once I saw what I saw...
I couldn't unsee it.
Once I knew what I knew...
I couldn't unknow it.
People are free to disagree with me.
They are free to question my opinions.
But one thing they can never truthfully say is that I don't care.
Everything I have done since May of 2023 has been driven by one belief:
Every healthy, adoptable animal deserves every reasonable opportunity to leave the shelter alive.
If my advocacy has ever made anyone uncomfortable...
I can live with that.
What I could never have lived with.....was remaining silent.
Because my signature has never just been words.
‼️‼️‼️ On the Beaumont City Council meeting dated February 3, 2026, they announced that there was a $1.9 MILLION dollar Grant Application done and approved for Alice Keith Park for Enhancements.
These enhancements are to include:
🔸Building TWO pavilions with 2 benches underneath them;
🔸The two basketball courts that are already there – one will be a new tennis court and the other will be made into a pickleball court;
🔸There will be a designated soccer field built and the fence will have to be raised;
🔸There will be a designated football field;
🔸They will build a new drinking water fountain;
🔸An addition will be made to the existing community building and will include a computer lab & recording lab (for podcasts and the like);
🔸A new playground will be built;
🔸A new splashpad will be built;
🔸Renovations to the restrooms will be done.
🤷‍♀️ It is my understanding that when the City of Beaumont applies for grants, this is free money, it doesn’t cost the taxpayers anything and it doesn’t raise property taxes.
‼️‼️‼️ I say all of the above to say this – ‼️‼️‼️WHY HAS THERE BEEN NO GRANTS APPLIED FOR, TO EITHER UPDATE THE CURRENT BAC SHELTER OR BUILD A NEW ONE AND, ‼️‼️‼️VERY IMPORTANTLY, I’D LIKE TO KNOW WHY THE OUTSIDE RUNS HAVE NOT BEEN ENCLOSED LONG BEFORE NOW, KNOWING THE CITY COULD HAVE APPLIED FOR A GRANT AND DONE THIS YEARS AGO AND KEPT COUNTLESS ANIMALS WHO HAVE PASSED THROUGH BAC, FROM SUFFERING THE HIGH SUMMER TEMPS AND THE LOW WINTER TEMPS OF OUR AREA?
‼️‼️‼️ There is plenty of room for a city shelter to be built, where the city owns the softball fields and tennis courts on College Street. The softball fields are currently underused after the new ones were built by Ford Park. This would save the cost of having to purchase land to build.
🟥 If any of you have ever attended a City Council meeting – you’ve heard how important it is to the Council to “grow Beaumont”. Realtors and I’m sure SOMEONE from the city does, as well, actually reach out to different companies, telling them how wonderful Beaumont is (talking Beaumont "up") and that they should recommend their employees relocate to Beaumont.
🔺🔻 But, I know for a fact, if these employees with these large companies that are being targeted to convince them to move to Beaumont – learned that the City of Beaumont and it’s council members have done NOTHING TO DATE in any way to:
🔲 Improve and/or update our city animal shelter; and
🔲Do nothing to hold the current Supervisor accountable for all the wrongdoings he’s allowed to take place under his watch;
🔲That in fact, they (council members and mayor) are notorious for not responding to emails of complaints about BAC from the community and that they would not be interested in even considering the city of Beaumont as one they would want to relocate to. Many more people than the Beaumont politicians care to admit, deeply care about animals and how they are treated and cared for, in a city-run shelter – and this COULD factor into a decision to NOT relocate to our city ‼️‼️‼️
1️⃣ For instance, I’m sure that if I were to reach out to these same companies being targeted to make Beaumont seem irresistible – that if they knew that 2.5 years ago the Beaumont animal control supervisor, euthanized two Code Red dogs with half the kennels in their entire shelter EMPTY – instead of giving them an extension; then throwing these two dogs under the bus by saying they had “behavioral issues” when they did not; that they banned a shelter volunteer for exercising her first amendment right of speech and for speaking up about wrongdoing in the shelter; and in fact, made false and contradictory statements in their own emails about certain facts; that they still had these two dogs with “behavioral issues” available for adoption to the community and that their bios on their posts by the shelter staff said nothing about them having “behavioral issues”; that the shelter was allowed to do an INTERNAL investigation on themselves and of course, found “no wrongdoing”; that that the supervisor led the council and mayor to believe that the “whistleblower” volunteer was a disrespectful, unprofessional, rude, discourteous volunteer while at the shelter – when there was zero proof (because it didn’t happen) and she was never spoken to about this “alleged” behavior until AFTER she exposed the wrongdoing;
2️⃣ Another instance, if they knew the supervisor and staff sent 124 mostly dogs and 11 cats to an inhumane rescue, therefore violating their own policy of requiring rescues to have a 501c3 Nonprofit status, registered with the IRS, which this one did not have; and despite the fact that I made sure BAC staff were told of the numerous, huge red flags I found out during a phone conversation I had with the owner.There were multiple inhumane living conditions these dogs and cats were forced to live in – dogs getting into fights was a regular occurrence as well as dog maulings between dogs and also at least one pig; there is proof that the shelter was made aware of and knew what the conditions were at this rescue and what the living conditions were – yet they continued to send animals to them week after week for six months. There are too many infractions to list by Beaumont Animal Care AND the inhumane rescue, to list here. Nothing, by anyone in authority over BAC ever responded to emails sent to them by the community, nor was anything ever done as a result. The unknown remaining animals are now all gone and it’s unknown what happened to them due to that inhumane rescue ceasing all communication with anyone in Beaumont.
3️⃣ Another instance – they had received numerous calls and/or emails from members of the community, that were reported to them, (both the shelter, shelter supervisor, council members and the mayor) on different dogs who, being severely neglected and/or abused - some so badly that they were at deaths’ door.
4️⃣ Another instance, on one case, a severely neglected senior Irish Setter, named Red, who appeared to be near death when we found him and rushed him to an emergency vet - the shelter supervisor didn’t even open an investigation and – the owners were allowed to keep possession of Red, even though they’re the ones who allowed him to get in the condition he was in. They never received any consequences. Our community was enraged. Since the shelter supervisor did nothing, I had prepared a packet and given it to the mayor. It included all of the details on the story of Red, his medical condition upon being discovered and rushed to the emergency vet, a petition with over 900 signatures (which had been done due to the failure of the shelter supervisor pursuing zero legal action and allowing Red back to the owners), along with documentation and photos of Red, this was AFTER the council members were all contacted repeatedly from members of the community who were outraged that the shelter supervisor allowed Red to be returned to his owner. NOTHING was ever done.
‼️‼️‼️ In conclusion, it has been very apparent for 2.5 years, that not only does the City of Beaumont employ a supervisor at its’ city-run animal control shelter that clearly does not care about the animals and their well-being and does not have their best interest at heart – the council members nor the mayor not only DON’T respond to members of the community about animal-related matters, when they email them – they have continued to NOT hold this supervisor accountable for his actions and inactions, with regard to the responsibilities of his job as the animal control supervisor who is SUPPOSED to uphold the laws of Animal Welfare in the city of Beaumont – for the state of Texas! ‼️‼️‼️
❌ I would advise, if you are relocating due to your job or any other reason – and if you love animals – to NOT choose Beaumont, TX as your new home. ❌
