🐉 Why Are Bearded Dragons So Popular? 🐉

Have you ever wondered why so many reptile keepers fall in love with Bearded Dragons? 🦎✨ With the right education and a proper setup, Beardies can be incredibly rewarding pets. They’re curious, full of personality, and often seem to have a funny way of interacting with the world around them. From dramatic head bobs and adorable arm waves to sprawling out in the weirdest sleeping positions imaginable, they always seem to find a way to make their owners smile. 🖤

Of course, they aren’t a “set it and forget it” pet—they require proper lighting, heating, nutrition, and care. But for those willing to put in the time and effort, Bearded Dragons can become amazing companions and a wonderful introduction to the reptile hobby. What’s your favorite thing about Beardies? Let us know below! 👇🏻🐉

🖤 Did You Know? 🖤

My very first exotic pet as an adult was a Bearded Dragon named Persey, short for Persephone. 🌸

In Greek mythology, Persephone was the Goddess of Spring, whose return to the Earth brought blooming flowers, growing crops, and renewed life. According to the myth, she was taken by Hades, King of the Underworld, to become his bride. Eventually, Hades and Persephone’s mother, Demeter, reached an agreement: Persephone would spend Spring and Summer with her mother, and Fall and Winter with her husband in the Underworld. This story was used to explain the changing of the seasons.

I chose that name because my dragon was a spicy little thing with a HUGE personality. 😂 She was absolutely stunning, sporting fiery reds, vivid oranges, bright yellows, and even hints of blue. Over time, she became much more than a pet—she became my best friend. We did everything together, and she was the reptile that truly sparked my passion for this hobby.

I no longer have Persey, but I’ll always be grateful for the impact she had on my life and the journey she started for me. 🖤

Now I want to hear your story! What reptile got you into the hobby, and how did it happen? Drop a photo of the culprit in the comments and tell us all about them! 👇🏻🦎🐍😂

👋🏻 Hello, Mythlings! Aly here. 🖤

We decided to palpate Scrunchie Saturday (for those who may not know, that simply means gently feeling her abdomen) because she’s been showing signs that she may have laid her eggs, yet we haven’t found any.

The good news? She definitely still has eggs in there—she’s just making us wait! 😂🥚

If she doesn’t resume digging soon, we’re approaching the point where I’ll likely make some adjustments to her enclosure. Since we’re getting close to the 45-day mark, I may remove the loose substrate and instead provide a dedicated dig box filled with substrate, while using paper towels as the main flooring. This will make it much easier to monitor her digging activity and locate any eggs she decides to hide from us.

For those curious about her setup, Scrunchie has ideal laying conditions:
✨Plenty of hides & clutter
✨ Fresh food and water daily
✨ Fresh calcium available at all times in two locations
✨ A damp dig box filled with Eco Earth and sphagnum moss
✨ Evening humidity around 82%, dropping to about 59% during the day
✨ Daytime temperatures between 72–75°F, with nighttime temperatures around 69°F

At this point, it’s just a waiting game. Momma Scrunchie is keeping everyone—including me—in suspense! 👀😂

Do you think she’ll lay this week, Mythlings? Let me know your predictions below! 🥚🖤

🥚🦎 Crested Gecko Fun Fact! 🦎🥚

Did you know that, in extremely rare cases, a female gecko can produce a fertile egg without ever being with a male?

This phenomenon is called parthenogenesis, a type of reproduction where an embryo develops from an unfertilized egg. While it’s uncommon, it has been documented in several gecko species and other reptiles!

Nature is full of surprises, and sometimes a gecko mom can quite literally do it all on her own. 🤯

Have you ever heard of parthenogenesis before, or is this your first time learning about it? Let us know below! 👇🏻🖤

Hello Mythlings! Welcome to Morphtastic Monday, where we showcase specific patterns and coloration, aka morphs, in reptiles. We focus on the species that we currently own, so there’s no confusion.
Starting the week off with a morph that has brightened the ball python hobby for years…

🌟 Pastel Morph 🌟

✨ Enhanced Brightness – vibrant yellows and golds that pop
🖤 Reduced Dark Pigmentation – cleaner, brighter overall appearance
🎨 Versatile Gene – creates stunning combinations with countless other morphs

Pastel ball pythons are loved for their bright, cheerful coloration and ability to enhance the beauty of other morphs, making them a longtime favorite among keepers and breeders alike.

Fun fact: As many Pastels mature, their colors often remain brighter and more vibrant than those of normal ball pythons!

At Mythos, we appreciate morphs that bring a little extra brightness to the reptile world — and Pastels do exactly that.

👇 What’s your favorite look:
Classic Pastel 🌟 or a Pastel combo 🔥?

✨ Mythos Weekly Update ✨
Week of May 31st – June 7th 2026
Hello, Mythlings! 🖤 Thank you for joining us for another weekly update. Here's what's been happening behind the scenes this week!
________________________________________
🏡 Life Updates
• I've been incredibly tired these past few weeks—not mentally exhausted, but physically exhausted. Between work, family, and everything else life has thrown our way lately, it's been a major adjustment. Even on the hardest days, though, I keep pushing forward because my animals depend on me. Their routines don't stop, and honestly, caring for them keeps me grounded.
• I've also been anxiously awaiting Scrunchie's eggs. I know there's still the incubation period after she lays them, but I can't help being excited! I've never had the opportunity to witness freshly hatched reptiles before, and I can't wait to experience it for the first time.
• Sam's softball season has been keeping us busy. We've had some frustrations with officiating lately, but we're doing our best to focus on supporting the kids and enjoying the season. On a happier note, Brooklyn's birthday party plans are coming together nicely, and I'm excited to see everything come together!
• Work has been going wonderfully. I've realized that I don't necessarily dislike change—I just take time to adjust to it. I'm really enjoying the second store I'm working at. It's closer to home, the team has been incredibly welcoming, it's much busier, and the layout is fantastic. I'm still learning where everything is, but I'm getting more comfortable every day.

🦎 Mythos Updates
• We may have found the perfect addition to our breeding program! He's a proven male, weighs approximately 50 grams, and the breeder has graciously offered to hold him while I finish getting everything prepared. Best of all? He's absolutely stunning. I've wanted this morph for a very long time, and it's exciting to finally have one within reach. I'm staying cautiously optimistic, but things are looking promising.
• Because of this potential addition, we will not be pairing Solstice with Munchie. The new pairing would align much better with the long-term goals we have for our breeding program. That's all I'll say for now—I don't want to spoil the surprise! 👀

🛠️ Business & Setup
• Scrunchie is due to lay her eggs any day now. She's currently around the five-week mark of her gravid cycle, and she's been actively digging for several days straight. Despite that, she's still exploring her enclosure, eating, drinking, and seeking out calcium when needed. Most importantly, she has shown absolutely no signs of being egg-bound. As always, we're monitoring her closely and have an exotic veterinarian on standby should anything change.

💬 This Week's Thought
"You cannot get through a single day without having an impact on the world around you."
— Jane Goodall

🔮 Looking Ahead
• Once we add another male to the gecko program, we don't plan on making any additional breeding program acquisitions for the remainder of the year. The only expected additions will be future hatchlings. We prioritize providing spacious, fully furnished enclosures for our geckos rather than keeping them in tubs, so we want to ensure we grow responsibly and within our means.
• We're also hoping to host another Meet & Greet in the future—this time with a bit more organization! Once both of our geckos are comfortable with handling, we'd love to showcase them during a live stream and spend some time hanging out with all of you.
Thank you all for following along on this journey. Whether you're here for the reptiles, the mythology, the gecko egg watch, or the community, we're grateful to have you here. 🖤🦎✨

🌙 Late Night Unchies Update 🌙

If you’ve noticed the Late Night Unchies videos have been missing lately, there’s a good reason! 🖤 With Scrunchie being gravid, we’ve been giving her as much peace and quiet as possible. The last thing we want is to stress her out while she’s busy cooking up those eggs. 🥚✨

That said… I’ve been thinking. 👀

We’re planning on adding more cameras, and if enough of you miss the Late Night Unchies series, I could set up separate cameras for both Munchie and Scrunchie! That way, you can still enjoy their nighttime adventures while keeping Momma Scrunch comfortable and stress-free.

So tell me, Mythlings: do you miss Late Night Unchies? 🌙🦎

If you’d like to see the series return with a dual-camera setup, leave a like and let me know in the comments! Your feedback helps us decide what content to bring to the page. 🖤✨

🦎 Crested Gecko Fun Fact! 🦎

Did you know that Crested Geckos don’t have eyelids?

That’s right! Unlike us, Cresties can’t blink. Instead, they keep their eyes clean and moist by licking them with their tongues. 👅👀

If you’ve ever caught your gecko staring at you and wondered why they never seem to blink, now you know! The next time you see your Crestie licking its eyeballs, don’t worry—it’s just doing its version of washing its face. 😂

Have you ever caught your gecko doing something weird or adorable? Tell us about it in the comments! 👇🏻🖤

🖤 Did You Know? 🖤

Munchie is actually just a nickname! His “government name” is Amun, named after the ancient Egyptian god. 👁️✨

The name Amun literally means “the hidden one.” As the god of air, Amun was believed to be invisible and ever-present, leading the ancient Egyptians to view him as a powerful force that was everywhere at once, yet never seen.

Ironically, that’s the complete opposite of my Amun’s personality. 😂 He used to spend most of his time tucked away in his coconut hide, but these days he’s become much more confident and often sleeps out in the open where everyone can see him. 🥹

He’s my very first gecko, and I couldn’t be more grateful that I brought him home. Watching him grow and come out of his shell has been one of the most rewarding parts of this journey. 🦎🖤

Let’s talk about something I know EVERYONE sees at least once in their lives; The Milky Way Galaxy. But what does the galaxy have to do with mythology? 👇🏻

The galaxy’s name comes from Greek mythology! It was said that Zeus tricked Hera into nursing the famous baby Heracles, but the infant bit her too hard, causing her to pull away and spray her breast milk across the night sky. Thus, the name “Milky” Way!
