Caregiver Fatigue Is Real ❤️

We talk about caregiver fatigue often in human medicine—the exhaustion that can come from caring for someone you love day after day. But what about when that someone has four legs?

Caring for a beloved pet through chronic illness, pain, mobility issues, medications, accidents, sleepless nights, frequent vet visits, and constant worry can be incredibly demanding. And sometimes, the emotional weight of caregiving becomes overwhelming.

Something we want every pet parent to hear is this:

It is okay to feel relief when your pet passes.

Relief does not mean you wanted them gone.
It does not mean you loved them any less.
And it certainly does not mean you are grieving any less.

Sometimes, relief simply means the worry has stopped. The medications, the sleepless nights, the constant monitoring, the fear of “what if something happens while I’m away?”—all of that can finally come to an end.

You can be absolutely heartbroken and relieved at the same time.

Both feelings can exist together.

If you have been caring for your pet for a long time, please give yourself grace. You have been carrying something heavy because you loved them deeply.

And when that burden is finally lifted, you are allowed to breathe. ❤️

📢 Important Scheduling Update 📢

Dr. Tilley will be out of town July 28th through August 5th and will not be available for in-home appointments during that time.

We will still be available to receive calls, texts, and messages during this period, and we will do our best to respond as quickly as possible. However, appointments will not be scheduled while Dr. Tilley is away.

🇺🇸 Happy Fourth of July from all of us at Peaceful Journey at Home! ❤️🤍💙

We hope you and your family have a fun and safe holiday celebrating with those you love. While the festivities are exciting for us, they can be overwhelming and frightening for our furry family members. Here are a few simple ways to help keep them safe today:

🐾 Keep pets indoors in a quiet, secure room before fireworks begin.
🐾 Make sure collars, ID tags, and microchip information are up to date.
🐾 Close windows, curtains, and blinds to help reduce noise and flashes.
🐾 Play calming music or white noise, and consider anxiety medications if recommended by your veterinarian.
🐾 Never bring pets to fireworks displays.

A little preparation can go a long way in helping your pets feel safe and comfortable during tonight’s celebrations.

Wishing everyone a safe and happy Independence Day! 🇺🇸

With the heat wave this week, we wanted to share a few reminders to help keep our furry family members safe.

Heat stroke is a medical emergency. If you notice these signs, move your pet to a cool area, offer small amounts of cool (not ice-cold) water, and contact your veterinarian or the nearest emergency veterinary hospital immediately.

Stay cool, stay hydrated, and give your pets an extra belly rub from all of us at Peaceful Journey At Home. ❤️🐾

One of the most rewarding parts of what we do is hearing from families after their beloved pets have passed. We are always honored when pet parents share the beautiful tattoos they’ve created using the paw prints we made for them.

Seeing these lasting tributes fills our hearts and reminds us what a privilege it is to be part of such a meaningful and commemorative moment. Knowing that something as simple as a paw print can become a permanent way to keep their beloved companion close means more to us than words can express.

Thank you to these families for allowing us to share these beautiful reminders that love truly leaves a lasting imprint. ❤️🐾

Happy Father’s Day to all of the dads, dog dads, and grandpas! 💙 We hope your day is filled with love, laughter, and plenty of tail wags. 🐾
