Why do I pet sit?
That was the question posed to me at a card game last night. I was new to the group so we were all sharing stories about our home-life and work.
It’s not the first time I’ve answered this exact question but it was the first time I was truly aware of how deeply my connection with animals goes. I replied, “because my client’s pets need me. I’m their surrogate human and I make sure they get the love, affection and attention they deserve.”
And that’s not just some sales pitch. My kids are grown and moved away. I retired from the stress of working a job that made me feel like I was a mouse in a wheel, never really getting anywhere I wanted to be. I still need to be needed.
