How well do you actually know YOUR dog?

Each dog originates from a wolf. But since that original breeding, humans have chosen to play with genetics to create dogs that instinctively behave in certain ways or have certain physical characteristics. Each breed has been bred for a certain purpose, whether it was to perform a particular series of jobs or to change size, temperament, etc.

Even within a breeder's bloodline, certain traits are considered in order to develop or preserve behaviors such as hunting instincts, herding abilities, or on the other spectrum, to be more of a lap dog (think the King Cavalier which was actually bred to sit on the laps of kings).

When I meet your baby for the first time, I'm cognizant of this, and then overlap their personality and surroundings on top of that to know how best to be with your little while you're gone. It helps me to understand their needs, wants and desires quickly. I believe this is just a piece of what a true dog whisperer or trainer brings to the table.
