Hot weather treat for the girls ☀️🐓

Chickens can’t sweat, which is one of the reasons hot weather can be tougher on them than cold weather. Heat stress can sneak up quickly, so once temperatures start climbing, I like to stay ahead of it.

One easy thing I do is make frozen treats using Premium Grubs, blueberries, mint, and water. I layered everything into an ice cube tray, froze it for a few hours, and handed them out to the flock.

• Premium Grubs = protein, calcium, phosphorus, fiber, lysine, and healthy fats

• Blueberries = extra moisture and antioxidants

• Mint = a fun way to switch up their treats

You can give these as frozen treats or drop a few into their waterer to help keep the water cooler on hot days.

How often do I change my nesting pads?
To be honest not that often. Only when they need it.
It’s not a schedule thing I do, it’s just as needed.
