🚨 BRING PRINCESS HOME 🚨

Today we are shining a light on a heartbreaking situation that was recently brought to our attention.

A family is desperately trying to bring their dog, Princess, home after discovering that she was adopted out through NECCOG. The problem? There appears to be no public record showing that Princess was properly advertised as a found dog when she entered NECCOG’s care, depriving her family of a fair opportunity to locate and reclaim her.

The family only learned what happened after someone sent them a post showing their dog had already been adopted. Despite months of searching, they never saw a public intake post announcing that Princess had been found.

Princess originally went missing from Norwich and somehow ended up at the Killingly pound, approximately 32 minutes away from her home. Like many pet owners, her family had been searching, hoping and praying for answers.

This raises a very important question:

How many other families have lost their beloved pets because proper efforts were not made to reunite them with their owners?

Princess is not just a dog. She is a family member. She has people who love her, children who miss her, and a family that never stopped searching.

We believe every lost pet deserves every possible opportunity to be reunited with their family before being placed for adoption. Transparency and accountability matter when families’ beloved companions are involved.

As this family continues seeking answers, we encourage supporters to review and sign the petition calling for increased oversight and accountability regarding NECCOG’s practices.

The petition remains active as we continue to push for transparency, proper stray hold procedures, and fair opportunities for families to locate and reclaim their missing pets.

Please share Princess’s story and help us bring awareness to this issue.

We had a very special visitor today. 🥹

Look at our girl now. No more spine showing. No more ribs. No more hip bones. Just a beautiful, healthy girl who finally looks the way she always deserved to. 🩷

Charlotte is truly looking like a whole new dog, and every time she comes back to visit, I can’t stop smiling. Watching her walk through the door healthy, happy, and loved is something I don’t think I’ll ever get used to.

After everything she endured, seeing her thrive feels like a dream. Today I just found myself soaking it all in, taking in every cuddle, every tail wag, and every reminder of how far she’s come.

She still has about 15 pounds to gain, but without a doubt she’ll be there before we all know it. The difference already is incredible, and seeing her body heal while her personality shines brighter every day has been nothing short of amazing.

There really aren’t enough words for moments like this. Just a whole lot of gratitude, pride, and tears. 🥹😭🩷

Thank you Trish for continuing her care and being apart of this whole journey🙏🩷

🎉🐾 ROYAL HAS OFFICIALLY BEEN ADOPTED! 🐾🎉

We are absolutely screaming it from the mountaintops!

Seriously though… how this boy wasn’t adopted sooner is beyond us. Royal is the complete package. Dog savvy, cat savvy, kid savvy, and even farm animal savvy! He has spent far too long waiting for someone to see what we’ve always seen in him, and today that finally happened.

A family saw Royal for exactly who he is: a goofy, loving, loyal boy who wants nothing more than to be part of every moment. Whether it’s cuddling on the couch, following his people around the yard, or soaking up attention from his favorite humans, Royal simply loves being included. His heart is as big as they come.

Today marks the beginning of the life he has always deserved. A life filled with love, adventures, belly rubs, and a family to call his own. Best of all, he now has a kiddo to adore for the rest of his life, and if you know Royal, you know there is nothing he loves more than being around children. 🥹❤️

We could not be happier for this incredible boy and his new family. We already know he is going to be spoiled absolutely rotten, just as he should be.

A very special thank you goes out to Hailey and her family for fostering Royal while he waited for his forever home. Foster families are the bridge between uncertainty and forever, and Royal’s journey would not have been possible without you. We know he may have caused a heart attack or two with some of his wandering adventures 😂, but you never gave up on him. You loved him, supported him, and stood by him until the perfect family came along.

Thank you for helping Royal find his happily ever after. It truly would not have happened without you all. 🙏🩷

Happy Adoption Day, Royal! We can’t wait to watch this next chapter unfold. 🐾🏡💕

I just need to take a moment to recognize Rusty, now known as Dusty, and her amazing family. 🩷

This post highlights something that not enough adopters are willing to openly talk about. Sometimes dogs need extra guidance, structure, and professional training once they settle into home life and that is completely okay. There should never be shame in asking for help when it means setting your dog up for success.

Once Dusty settled in, she became very protective of her humans. Her family recognized that this behavior needed to be worked through and immediately reached out asking who we trusted for training. Without hesitation, I referred them to Jeremy and all of the trainers at V3 Gun Dogs & Canine Academy.

Why? Because we trusted them with one of our own hounds who completed a 4 week board and train program. The dedication, patience, and work that Jeremy and the trainers put into our boy left us beyond impressed. Any family adopting through us that is considering training will always hear me recommend them.

Truthfully, sending your dog away for training is not easy. There are so many emotions that come with it. The fear of wondering if they’ll be okay, if they’ll understand why they’re there, if they’ll think they were abandoned, or if they’ll actually learn what they need to.

But the reality is this: while they may not understand it in the moment, they come home more confident, more balanced, and with a stronger bond with their family. Training is not just about teaching the dog. It teaches us as owners too. It helps us better understand communication, structure, boundaries, and leadership.

Seeing this family put in the extra work for Dusty has genuinely made me so happy. Many adopters say they’ll seek training, but not many truly follow through. When we see families willing to take that extra step and fully commit to helping their dog succeed, it absolutely deserves to be acknowledged.

So thank you to the Sabourin family. You have given Dusty the tools, guidance, and support she needs for a lifetime of success, and it has been incredible watching how far she has come. 🐾

Refresher days are some of our favorites 💪🐾

This GSD pup came back to sharpen up everything learned during our 4 Week Off-Leash Obedience Program, and today we took the work out into the real world 🌎 We spent time training in the park around distractions, people, movement, and environmental pressure — exactly where obedience truly matters.

We also had Dusty tag along as she wraps up her behavior modification program, and needless to say… both dogs absolutely HAMMERED it 🔥

Neutrality, engagement, accountability, and clear communication. That’s what creates dogs that can confidently exist in public without chaos or stress.

Training doesn’t stop after the first program. Consistency, refreshers, and proofing behaviors in different environments are what keep dogs reliable for the long haul 👊

Proud of both of these dogs and the progress they continue to make!

UPDATE - ADOPTED 🎉🎉

Update! River had a spontaneous meet and greet this evening with approved adopters! He is heading home Saturday🥹🙏 the family absolutely adored this little man and he was just as happy to meet them too!

🐾 Meet River 🐾

At just 3 years old, this handsome basset hound mix is searching for his next big adventure… and hopefully his forever family. ❤️

River recently found himself surrendered due to personal circumstances, and like many dogs in his position, he’s feeling a little confused and heartbroken while adjusting to all the changes around him. Despite it all, he continues to show just how loving and gentle he truly is.

This sweet stumpy boy absolutely adores children and has done wonderfully with female dogs so far. River is the kind of dog who wants to be part of the family in every way possible. Whether it’s following you around the house, lounging beside the kids, or sneaking his way under the blankets for bedtime cuddles, he just wants love and comfort. 🥹

And honestly… how could you not fall in love with that long body, short legs, and soulful hound face? 😍@

River deserves a home where he can finally relax, feel safe again, and know he’ll never have to lose his family another time. We are determined to help make this transition easier for him by finding the perfect match, a family ready to give him patience, love, couch cuddles, and a lifetime commitment. 🐶

If you think River could be the missing piece to your family, please apply. Let’s get this young handsome man the happy ending he deserves. 🩷🐾

Meet our newest owner surrender 😍

🐾 Harley! 🐾(She is MUCH smaller than the picture makes her look!) she still has some growing to do😍

6 months old and FULL of life, personality, and endless entertainment 😂🩷 This beautiful Lab/Shepherd mix is looking for a family that’s ready for adventure, laughter, and a whole lot of puppy love.

Harley is the definition of happy go lucky. She wakes up every day ready to take on the world with excitement and absolutely no concept of personal space 😅 She’s playful, goofy, energetic, and always manages to keep everyone around her smiling. If you’re looking for a dog that brings life into the home, Harley is your girl.

She is dog friendly and absolutely loves having canine friends to romp around with. Wrestling, zoomies, chasing toys… Harley is always ready for fun. 🐶✨

Now let’s talk about one of Harley’s most unique traits… she genuinely believes she is part kangaroo. We are still trying to figure out who told her she can bounce six feet in the air when excited, but she has fully committed to the lifestyle 😂 Between her jumps, goofy antics, and nonstop enthusiasm, there is never a dull moment with this girl.

Because Harley is still a puppy, she is actively working on her manners and learning the basics. She will need a family committed to continuing her training and helping her become the amazing adult dog we know she can be. She’s smart, eager to learn, and food motivated which makes training both fun and rewarding.

Harley would do best with older kids simply because of her energy level and excitement. She has a big personality and sometimes forgets that not everyone wants to be tackled with love and enthusiasm 😅 But behind all the chaos is a genuinely sweet girl who just wants attention, affection, and someone to guide her through life.

She is at such a fun age where her personality is blossoming more every single day. With consistency, structure, exercise, and love, Harley is going to grow into an incredible companion for one lucky family. 🩷

With the current crisis here in Connecticut, we have been contacted by many families needing to surrender their pets. As many of you know, I am currently on complete bed rest, which has significantly restricted what I am physically able to do during this time.

Despite that, we have been incredibly blessed with amazing volunteers who have stepped up to help prepare for incoming surrenders and care for these animals each day. Their support has meant everything to us and to the pets depending on us. 🩷🐾

We are also hoping to place some of these surrender dogs into foster homes so they can continue receiving love, stability, and individualized care while we navigate this overwhelming situation.

Right now, one of our biggest immediate needs is supplies. We are running low on essential cleaning items including disinfecting wipes and gloves. These supplies are critical in helping our volunteers safely care for the animals and maintain a clean environment as we continue trying to support local families and their pets the best we can.

If you are able, we kindly ask that you take a moment to review our rescue wishlist. Every single donation, share, and act of support truly makes a difference during this difficult time.

Thank you for continuing to stand beside us, our volunteers, and the animals who need us most. 🙏🐶

A moment everyone has waited for but first………. 🩷🤍

We want to wish everyone a happy & safe Memorial Day!

👑 THE QUEEN 👑

Charlotte is living life to the fullest. Her recent weight check brought her to 115 pounds! That means she has gained 26 pounds slowly, safely, and in a healthy way. Seeing those numbers feels incredible.

When I was first sent to Labor & Delivery, my husband, family, and friends worked incredibly hard to make sure our rescue dogs were safely placed into foster homes so we could focus on both my health and our babies’ health.

Charlotte was picked up by Trish, who was one of the many people standing beside us throughout Charlotte’s entire journey. In fact, Trish already had a few of Charlotte’s “sisters,” and we truly could not have asked for a better transition into a home.

And something amazing happened… we saw another side of Charlotte that we hadn’t seen before.

When Charlotte was here, she was very protective of me. She wanted to play with our dogs, but she always felt like she needed to keep all eyes on me because she knew just how hard I fought for her. It’s amazing how dogs somehow know what one person can do for them. Did I love how attached she was to me? Of course. But deep down, I knew she deserved to just be a true dog… a dog who could play, relax, and not feel like she had to protect me every second throughout the day. I knew what she needed, and I’m happy we gave her exactly that.

With Trish and her other Saint Bernards, Charlotte started learning how to just be a dog… a big dog. 🐶 She discovered how much she loves riding in the convertible, being surrounded by kids, and simply enjoying life.

But she learned even more than that.

She learned how to free-feed. No overeating. No scarfing down food the second the bowl is filled. She learned that meals will always be there for her. That treats are always available (although she also learned how to open the door where they’re kept 😂). She learned about warm cozy beds, humans who adore her, and adventures to places she never knew existed.

Charlotte has come such a long way from the day she first entered our rescue.

And we are beyond happy to finally say…

Charlotte is HOME. 🩷

Trish has absolutely spoiled this queen and given her the life she always deserved, and we are forever thankful and grateful. One of the most beautiful parts of this is that Charlotte is only fifteen minutes down the road, which means we still get to see her. She gets to come visit because I grew such a strong bond and love for her.

She will always be family.

We’ll continue sharing updates on Charlotte’s journey and health. She still has some more weight to gain and future rechecks ahead, but she is in truly wonderful hands.

Charlotte… keep living the life you fought so hard for. 🩷🐾
