🐾📚 A little something different from Taylor’s Pawsitive Pet Care 🧡

If there’s one thing you probably already know about me, it’s that dog hold a very special place in my heart. But what you might not know is that outside of caring for your furry family members, I’ve also been working on another passion of mine…writing and illustrating children’s books!

And I’m SO excited to share that my second book, Tugboat Takes Ones Brave Step, is official published! 🎃🍂

This one felt especially fitting to share here because the main character is none other than a lovable golden retriever named Tugboat 🐕

Inspired by a real-life pup and his little best buddy, Emmett, this sweet Halloween adventure follows Tugboat as he navigates spooky things, unexpected surprises, and some pretty big feelings while trick-or-treating.

Along the way, he discovered an important lesson: being brave doesn’t mean you aren’t scared. Sometimes, it just means taking one brave step at a time ✨

As someone who spends so much of my time around animals, I know just how much they can teach us about love, companionship, trust and courage. And I love getting to bring some of those lessons to life through storytelling!

Whether you’re a dog lover, a parent, a grandparent, or just someone who enjoys Halloween or a heartwarming story, I hope Tugboat’s journey brings a smile to your face.

Becoming a dog owner is one of the most rewarding experiences - but it can also feel overwhelming at first. There is so much information out there, and every dog is different.

Here are five things I think every dog owner should know:

🐾 Exercise isn’t everything. Mental enrichment through sniffing, puzzle toys, training, and play is just as important as physical activity.

🐾 Consistency matters. Dogs thrive on routine. Keeping feeding times, potty breaks, walks, and training as consistent as possible helps them feel secure and understand what’s expected.

🐾 Don’t skip preventative care. Regular vet visits, flea and tick prevention, heartworm prevention, and dental care can help prevent much bigger problems down the road.

🐾 Reward the behaviors you want to see. Positive reinforcement helps build trust and confidence while making training a much more enjoyable experience for both you and your dog.

🐾 Comparison doesn’t help. Every dog has a different personality, energy level, and learning style. What works for one dog may not work for another - and that’s okay.

As a pet sitter, I get the privilege of caring for so many different personalities, and one thing I’ve learned is that there’s no such thing as a “perfect” dog. The best thing you can do is continue learning, be patient, and enjoy the journey with your best friend 🩵

Just a little heads-up to all of my amazing clients!

I’ll be out of town October 3rd-11th and will not be available for pet sitting during those dates. I’ll be back October 12th to continue caring for your fur babies.

If you have any upcoming trips, long days away from home, or pet sitting needs that you’ve been meaning to reach out about, now is the time 🐶🐱 Please get ahold of me before I leave on October 3rd so we can get everything scheduled and square away!

My pet sitting calendar has been updated for the remainder of 2026, and I still have a decent amount of availability left! Whenever you have a fall weekend away, holiday plans, or a last-minute trip coming up, now is a great time to get your dates on my calendar 🤎

And for my fellow planners…I am officially accepting bookings for 2027! 🎉 If you already have vacations, weddings, weekend trips, or other travel plans on your calendar for next year, you’re more than welcome to reach out early and reserve your dates.

Happy National Dog Day! 🐾🐕

Today is all about celebrating the dogs that make our lives a little messier, a lot more entertaining, and infinitely more full of love.

As a pet sitter, I’m lucky enough to love on so many different pups - the energetic ones, the couch potatoes, the velcro dogs, the independent ones, the treat-obsessed ones, the anxious ones, and every personality in between 🐶

One of my favorite parts of Taylor’s Pawsitive Pet Care is getting to know each dog for exactly who they are and making sure they feel safe, comfortable, and loved while their hoomans are away.

If you have any trips planned, I highly recommend reaching out AT LEAST 1-2 months in advance. The sooner the better 😊

IMPORTANT NOTE: my overnight schedule is completely booked for August and September of 2026. I do still have availability for drop-ins during these months. October 2026 is pretty much wide open for both overnights and drop-ins!

Please see my updated schedule below for the rest of 2026 through August of 2027. Color highlighted dates are booked for overnights, but I do still have drop-in availability!
