Sitting on 129 scenic acres, ACS is a truly perfect setting for an animal sanctuary and shelter for approximately 150 cats and dogs. Our Canine Care facility is well-maintained and fully staffed with caring and dedicated individuals who are committed to ensuring that the ACS residents are well cared for regardless of the length of their stay. The size and location of the living space of each individual dog within the Canine Care building is carefully selected to best meet the needs of every resident. A high quality diet is fed to our dogs twice daily, including special foods for those who have unique dietary requirements. We work diligently to reduce the stress levels of the dogs in Canine Care. Indoor enrichment, such as stuffed Kongs, Nylabones, and toys are available to the dogs, and the staff and volunteers interact with the dogs as much as possible including walks through the fields, wading in the ponds, quiet time at an out-of-the-way picnic table, and positive reinforcement training. Our cattery stands out as an exceptionally clean and well organized example of cat sheltering. It takes a large team of individuals to maintain the high standards of cleanliness ACS upholds. Time for socialization and one-on-one care for the cats is scheduled into each employeeโ€™s day, so as to ensure that the cats are receiving everything they need to be happy, healthy cats. We created communal cat rooms and enclosures to best provide for the socialization and โ€œcolony-mindโ€ of the cats that are living here. In 2020, Animal Care Sanctuary reached an all-time record for adoptions, finding homes for 1,243 animals. These cats and dogs came from all kinds of locations and backgrounds, from local surrenders to big city strays to deep south rescues, and even 20 dogs saved from a meat farm in South Korea. We work with educational institutes at all levels, from grade school students to college internships, to train and raise awareness for the next generation for the humane treatment of animals.

We are so appreciative of Rick Curren Hardware, Feed & Need and their donation!

They are continuous supporters of ACS and our community! โค๏ธ

Today we donated roughly over 50 bags of animal food to the Animal Care Sanctuary! Community means so much to us, and we are grateful to have the opportunity to give back. Go check them out and check off adopting a pet on your bucket list!

Meet Kit!! ๐Ÿฑโค๏ธ

This sweet senior girl is looking for a soft place to land and a family to love her through her golden years. ๐Ÿก๐Ÿพ

Kit loves cuddles, cozy beds, and staying close to her people. She does have arthritis, so she prefers to take life at her own paceโ€”slow, comfortable, and surrounded by plenty of love and affection. โค๏ธ

Kit came to the shelter after her owners moved into a nursing home and could no longer care for her. After such a big life change, sheโ€™s ready to find a peaceful forever home where she can settle in and feel loved again.

Kit would prefer to be the only pet in the home so she can soak up all the attention for herself. ๐Ÿ‘‘๐Ÿฑ

Could you give this sweet senior girl the cozy retirement she deserves? โค๏ธ

Spore escaped her handler near the Vestal, NY PetSmart.

She is very friendly and loves other dogs! Please be on the lookout for this sweet girl! At this point, we can only imagine sheโ€™s scared and frightened.

If you see her, please call Animal Care Sanctuary at (570) 596-2200.

๐Ÿพ Hi, my name is Nani! ๐Ÿพ

I may be a senior kitty, but donโ€™t let my age fool you โ€” I still have LOTS of love to give! ๐Ÿฑโค๏ธ

Iโ€™m ready to be your new best friend! I absolutely love pets, snuggles, a little playtime, and curling up on a warm lap for a Sunday snooze. ๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿ’ค If youโ€™re looking for a loyal companion whoโ€™s always ready for some love, I might just be your girl!

Thereโ€™s just one little thingโ€ฆ Iโ€™m not really into sharing my humans with other kitty friends. ๐Ÿ‘‘ Iโ€™d much rather be the one and only cat in your home so I can soak up all the attention!

Iโ€™m ready to spend my golden years being loved and spoiled. Could your home be the one Iโ€™ve been waiting for? ๐Ÿกโค๏ธ

Hi, Iโ€™m Hunter! Iโ€™m 6 years old, and I LOVE people. Seriously! Big people, little people, new people, familiar peopleโ€ฆif youโ€™re a person, Iโ€™m already interested! ๐Ÿ’™
I recently returned to ACS because I chased the cat in my former home. In my defense, the cat moved firstโ€”but everyone agrees my next home needs to be completely feline-free. ๐Ÿšซ๐Ÿฑ

Iโ€™m also a little selective about my dog friends and usually prefer the ladies, so any canine roommate will need to come and meet me first. My favorite activities include car rides, walks, and being wherever my people are. ๐Ÿš—

Iโ€™m also carrying around a few extra pounds. Apparently, โ€œroundโ€ is not the ideal fitness goal, so I need someone who will help me get moving, serve sensible meals, and resist these very persuasive eyes when I request second dinner!
