First bath day for 8 yr old Lusitano Nico.
I’m not jumping in this picture, I’m being lifted off the ground as he rears and I hold onto him. The rears didn’t work, but he did throw down in his fight and flight protest. It took a process—it always takes Nico a process to accept something, he’s an emotional prone to hot headed Lusitano, a bullfighting horse, who were partly bred for their ability to hold their ground and fight smartly. But we had huge improvement, to the point where I could hose his legs and chest while he stood still.
This wasn’t his first introduction to water.
In his owner’s words, “He hates water fierce.”
