Goodest Girls Apiary was established in 2024 with three objectives: 1) Provide delicious, raw, local honey, 2) Propagate honey bees with more resilient genetics, and 3) Educate our community about bees and pollinators.

Last grafted queen cells of 2026 got dropped into mating nucs 10 days ago!

Since I'm impatient I'll probably peek this weekend to see if anyone is back and laying eggs. If I dont see any signs of a mated queen laying eggs in 12 days it's unlikely she made it. Queens are slow flyers and make a great snack for birds and dragonflies 🐦🐉 🪰

Hopefully I get a good return rate this round 🙏🤞 👑 🐝

Thanks to the hardest working and goodest girls in Durham, we harvest ~140lbs of honey this year (thats 12 gallons of honey!!!)

This was a great year for us despite the worst drought we've had in years. Incredibly grateful for such a great haul and excited to start trying some different creamed and infused honeys!

I've been working towards this for as long as I've been keeping bees (a whopping 2 years lol) but I was finally able to invest in a honey extractor.

This piece of equipment will drastically increase the speed and ease of spinning honey from frames ultimately making my life better and a little less sticky 😅😊🎉

I peaked into the honey boxes today and these girls have been busy! I'm hoping to harvest over 200lbs of honey this year and these goodest, hardest working girls very well may have done it 🍯 🐝 💪

Busy day in the apiary today! It was great seeing the girls getting out and about after the cooler wetter weather we've been having (not complaining about the rain, we need it!) Volume up and you can hear them buzzing 🎶 🎵 🐝 🍯 ☀️
