We’re wrapping up Staff Appreciation Week by celebrating our veterinarians!

Being a veterinarian means so much more than diagnosing illnesses and prescribing medications. Our doctors are detectives, surgeons, dentists, educators, problem-solvers, counselors, patient advocates, and sometimes the people helping families through some of the hardest moments of their lives.

We are incredibly fortunate to have doctors who are not only talented clinicians, but who genuinely care about their patients, their clients, and the team working alongside them.

To our DAMC doctors: thank you for your knowledge, your leadership, your compassion, and for trusting all of us to be part of the care you provide.

And to our entire DAMC family — thank you for everything you do, every single day. What a perfect way to end Staff Appreciation Week.

Today we’re celebrating the voices on the phone and the faces at the front desk — our amazing Client Service Representatives!

Being a veterinary CSR requires a pretty incredible combination of skills. They may be scheduling a puppy’s first visit one minute, helping someone with an emergency the next, checking patients in and out, answering phones, relaying messages, juggling the doctors’ schedules, tracking down records, solving problems, and helping worried pet owners — often all at the same time. They are also frequently the first person you speak with when you call us and the last person you see before you leave.

It takes patience, empathy, organization, humor, and a lot of multitasking to do this job well, and we are so fortunate to have a front desk team that genuinely cares about our clients and their pets.

To our CSRs: thank you for keeping all of us organized and for being the welcoming heart of DAMC. We appreciate you more than you know!

Meet Dr. Cecil "Weedy" Johnson, our veterinarian and owner! 👋 A UGA grad, he opened Dunwoody Animal Medical Center in 1990. Outside the clinic, you'll find him cheering on the Dawgs, fishing in the North Georgia mountains, or looking after his two dogs, his cat, and two cows who moved in on their own 🐄 Reach out to our team to schedule a visit with Dr. Johnson 💙

Carrying extra weight adds real strain on a pet's joints, heart, and energy, and it's one of the most preventable health issues out there 🐾⚖️. Portion control, regular movement, and routine weigh ins go a long way.

Today’s Staff Appreciation Week spotlight belongs to our animal care team!

Their job is so much more than feeding dogs, changing litter boxes and cleaning kennels. They make sure our boarding and day admission pets are comfortable, clean, fed, exercised, loved on, and cared for while their families are away. They keep a close eye on each animal and are often the first to notice when someone just doesn’t seem quite right. And let’s be honest — they willingly deal with an impressive amount of 💩. That alone deserves appreciation.

To our animal care team: thank you for working hard, caring deeply, and treating our patients like your own.
