A native of Prince George County, Virginia, has finally opened her own behavior and obedience training business after 15 years in the pet industry. In addition to behavior modification and obedience training, she offers AKC Canine Good Citizen testing and certification programs such as Trick Dog and Fetch Dog training. Helping th

ose without a voice to help themselves has always been a passion of mine. I have jokingly called myself a “blue-collared” professional of the animal field as my knowledge is very diverse. My knowledge ranges from grooming to training to veterinary medicine, and everything in between. I am passionate about teaching people how to further their bond with their dogs as well as helping people find that bond with their own pets or even potential new family members. My background in training beganwhen I started training and obedience back in 2010 fresh out of high school. My obedience training led me to Canine Good Citizenship testing and my love for therapy dog and service dog training. Eventually this grew my interest in behavior modification as well and learning the ins and outs of it. I’ve had several amazing mentors along the way that also helped cement my knowledge base. Through the years I have made sure to learn each path of training I could, especially behavior modification. Veterinary medicine only furthered this path in terms of behavior. Over the years I have also helped a lot in the rescue world between training, fostering, and rehoming. With dogs, wolfdogs as well a cats.. In more recent years I have taken on the knowledge of dock diving and gun dog training as well as more off leashed based training to add to my knowledge and background I hope to offer this to my clients in the near future as well a I continue to grow my knowledge of things in the field to offer to my clients

Southern Run was delighted to introduce these five healthy Australian Shepherd pups to the world on Thanksgiving! These guys will get the whole puppy bootcamp experience as they grow up, three puppies of this litter will need homes still also! They will come very well socialized, basic training and crate training introductions. Stay tuned for all the cute puppy spam as they grow up and start Southern Run Puppy bootcamp!

Sweet Peas, a former leash puller, achieved a notable training milestone by successfully transitioning to a slip lead, demonstrating a loose leash walk and sustained focus in public. The gentle leader initially facilitated the development of basic leash manners and handler attention, paving the way for her remarkable progress over time. Good Afternoon from Sweet Pea! Today we had our first public outing to Tractor Supply to work on Heel, Sit, Down and some socializing in general. Great start to our week and a Monday at that! Good Job Sweet Pea!

Here you can see the use of a gentle leader (this is not a muzzle whatsoever!) to help focus her attention while walking while we transition to a slip lead only. Stay tuned to see us transition from this to a slip lead only with a perfect loose leash walk in public!
