As temperatures rise across Michigan, knowing the signs of heat exhaustion could save a life.
🚨 Watch for:
• Excessive panting
• Heavy drooling
• Weakness or lethargy
• Vomiting or diarrhea
If your dog is showing signs of overheating:
💧 Move them to a cool, shaded area
💧 Offer small amounts of cool water
💧 Apply cool (not ice-cold) water to their paws, belly, and neck
💧 Contact your veterinarian immediately
The best treatment is prevention:
🌳 Provide shade
💧 Keep fresh water available
🚗 Never leave pets in vehicles
🐾 Avoid the hottest parts of the day
