One hermit crab care mistake I wish would disappear: wet sponges in shallow water dishes. 🚫🧽

Hermit crabs need both fresh and saltwater pools deep enough to fully submerge - shell and all. 🐚💦

Those pools aren’t just for drinking, either. Access to properly prepared water helps them regulate the water and salinity they carry inside their shells.

Skip the sponge. Give them a pool. ❤️

Hermit crabs may not love us the way a dog or cat does, but that doesn’t mean they can’t feel safe with us. 🐚❤️

When your crabs are out climbing, foraging, exploring, and just being their weird little crabby selves, that’s a pretty good sign you’ve created a space where they feel secure enough to thrive. 🤗

And maybe that’s our version of a bond.

They trust the environment we’ve built for them, and we get the privilege of watching them live the life they were meant to. 🥹

That’s how we love them - by giving them everything they need to simply be hermit crabs. 🐚🌿

And just like that … see ya when I see ya. 😂🐚

Hermit crab people know how it goes. One minute they’re digging like they’ve got somewhere important to be, and the next minute they’re gone. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Maybe they’re exploring. Maybe they’re getting ready to molt. Maybe they’ve decided they simply no longer wish to participate in society. 😂 I feel that. 🤣

Whatever the reason, once they go underground, LEAVE THEM BE. No digging, no checking, no “just one little peek.” Let them handle their mysterious crab business in peace. 🐚❤️

And now we wait. Possibly until October. 😂

Exactly 3 months ago today, May 20th, I made a post celebrating 1,000 followers.

And today, there are 2,000 of you here. 🤯

That might just look like a number on a screen, but to me, it’s 2,000 people who decided to follow along with this little world I’ve created - the crabs, the foraging, the plants, the products, the random things I find outside and get way too excited about. 😂🌿

When I started sharing all of this, I had no idea where it would go. I just knew I loved what I was doing and wanted to share it with people who might love it too.

And somehow, you found me. ❤️
