1 Hour. 1 Ronzeil Kit. 1 Slatmill for Kai's Run.

I assembled it alone, start to finish, in about an hour – and the legs still ended up backwards three times.

Honest Take: Ronzeil products are top quality and took fewer steps than demonstrated in their instructional video. That's the only way it happened within that time.

Newest piece of equipment to touch down – and frankly, one I was the most particular about.

Every session travels with a full canine first-aid kit:
- Wound care
- Digital thermometer
- Tick tools
- Trauma shears
- Soft muzzle for safe handling
- A collapsible water bowl for cool-down
- The list goes on.

Most days it remains zipped up.

That's the point - it is right there if it doesn't.

After every workout session, we spend approximately five minutes cooling down. Water flows in, breaths normalize and I give a quick scan-over before returning the leash.

There’s one second of this gig that I consider more than any other. That is, the second you put your dog in my arms, say thanks, and walk back inside.

You’ve literally just handed a person whom you knew less than 7 days ago the animal that lays on the foot of your bed, and went into your house hoping everything goes smoothly.

I have stood on your side of that door. But hoping that everything goes smoothly is not sufficient when the patient is your dog.

This is the "why" that Kai’s Run sessions have 2 (soon to be 3) cameras capturing your dog for the entirety of the session. Not for show - for your dog's safety, and so you never have to take my word for what happened out there.

First delivery showed up today.

3 Harnesses, 3 different sizes, and 1 dog who refused to play the game.

I said in an earlier post that the harness was the 1 piece of equipment I wouldn’t cheap out on for Kai.

In the conditioning process, this is the 1st piece of equipment they actually feel for all 3 Kai’s Run sessions, and for that reason it is the only gear I buy. High-quality, name-brand (Julius-K9 for anyone who was wondering), no shortcuts.

When I was first researching the sport of conditioning, the one constant theme amongst the pros was to offload all weight from the dog's neck onto their chest, utilize a handle I can quickly grip without fumbling, and train the dog to "forget" that it's wearing anything on it's back.

Kai gave me his patented "I will not touch it with all 4 paws, flatten my ears, and look as though this is below my intelligence" - a typical Kai's Run response (it's ok, he'll adjust to it too).

When Fido returns home from the park wired, not weary, do not chalk this up to chance.

This is par for the course. An hour of bedlam doesn’t deplete; rather, it overcharges the adrenal glands and sends them flying to linger in your home, creating the restless dog, a’padding and a’panting until late at night, running on the remnants of an adrenaline hangover.

And as if the average dog park session didn’t wreak havoc enough, consider what transpires when all the dog-children in your neighborhood cram into the dog-enclave over two cooler hours in July.

There is a kind of tired that actually settles a dog, and it is close to the opposite of the park. Breakdown - link in the first comment.
