I never expected to see a change in my dogs' coat color after switching them from Kirkland food to pawTree—but that's exactly what I've noticed!
Over the years, my Goldendoodle gradually faded from a beautiful apricot/red to almost blonde. My Yorkie mix also changed from black and tan to mostly silver.
After about 3 months on pawTree food and supplements, my Goldendoodle is beginning to look apricot again, and my Yorkie mix has much more brown coming back into her coat. I've also noticed:
🐾 Less eye discharge and staining
🐾 Fresher breath and cleaner teeth
🐾 More energy
🐾 Softer, healthier coats
If you know me, you know I'm always asking "Why?" Throughout my dog training career, I based everything I taught on the science of positive reinforcement—not opinions or outdated methods. So naturally, when I started seeing these changes in my own dogs, I wanted to understand the science behind them.
A dog's coat is made primarily of protein, and producing healthy hair and its natural pigment requires high-quality protein, healthy fats, vitamins, and minerals. When dogs receive balanced nutrition that supports healthy skin and hair follicles, new coat growth can sometimes appear healthier, shinier, and closer to its natural genetic color. Since hair grows gradually, these changes usually take a few months to become noticeable. It’s hard to see in pictures but very noticeable in person.
Of course, every dog is different. Genetics, age, hormones, sun exposure, and other factors all play a role in coat color, so not every dog will experience the same changes. I can only share what I've seen in my own dogs. Seeing these changes firsthand is what gave me the confidence to recommend pawTree to my family, friends, former training clients, and anyone looking to give their pets the best nutrition possible.
The more I learn about canine nutrition, the more I realize that what we put into our dogs affects what we see on the outside. As someone who has spent years helping dogs through training, I'm excited to now help them in another way—through nutrition.
Have you noticed any changes in your dog's coat, energy level, eyes, or overall health after changing foods? I'd love to hear about your experience! 💚🐾

pawTree just launched their new product and I’m so excited since 4 of my 5 dogs are considered “older” dogs.

So if you're like me and ever wished your pets-
*Could live longer
*Stay healthier
*Feel better as they age
*And have a more peaceful and less painful transition at the end...

This is what we've all been praying for 🥰

🐾 Is your dog entering their golden years? ❤️
As our dogs get older, their needs begin to change—just like ours.
You may notice they're:
🐶 Moving a little slower
🐶 Taking longer to get up after a nap
🐶 Less interested in long walks
🐶 Developing bad breath or tartar
🐶 Showing changes in digestion or energy
The good news? There are simple things we can do every day to help support healthy aging.
I love focusing on the basics:
✨ High-quality nutrition
✨ Daily movement that's appropriate for their age
✨ Maintaining a healthy weight
✨ Mental enrichment and lots of love
✨ Daily nutritional support with a quality multivitamin
✨ Good oral care, because healthy teeth and gums are an important part of overall wellness
One thing I've learned is that nutrition is about so much more than just filling the food bowl. Supporting joints, digestion, the immune system, skin and coat, and oral health can help our senior dogs continue enjoying life with us.
Our dogs give us their whole hearts. As they grow older, they deserve a little extra support in return. ❤️🐾

🐾 Trainer's Corner

One of the hardest parts of loving a dog is watching them get older.

My pit bull is 11 now, and over the past several months I've noticed little changes. He was moving much slower on the stairs, and sometimes he'd stay curled up in his favorite chair instead of following me from room to room.

If you've ever had a "Velcro dog," you know how much you miss that constant shadow. ❤️

As a dog trainer, I've always paid attention to behavior. But this reminded me that sometimes a change in behavior isn't really about behavior at all—it can be about how our dogs are feeling.

I recently started adding a few supplements to support his joints and overall wellness. Since then, I've noticed him moving more comfortably and, best of all, he's back to following me around the house again.

It made my heart so happy.

If you have a senior dog, have you noticed any little changes as they've gotten older? I'd love to hear about them. 🐾

🐾 Dog trainer observation...
People spend a lot of time working on training, exercise, and enrichment, but one thing that often gets overlooked is nutrition.
Over the years, I've learned that supporting a dog's overall wellness can make a difference in so many areas of life.
If you could improve just one thing for your dog, what would it be?
✨ Joint comfort
✨ Digestion
✨ Skin and coat
✨ Energy
✨ Immune support
I'm curious—what would you choose?

🎆🐾 Dog trainer tip as fireworks season gets closer...

One of the biggest mistakes I see pet owners make is waiting until the fireworks start before deciding what they're going to do.

If your dog normally struggles with fireworks, think about your plan now:

✔ Safe space

✔ Exercise earlier in the day

✔ Background noise

✔ Updated ID tags and microchip information

✔ Calming support if your dog needs additional help

The fireworks have already started here! Some of the booms today were so loud you could actually feel them.

After recently having both my house and facility roofs replaced, I was reminded how much noise can affect some dogs. I used Chillax with my own dogs during all the pounding and commotion, and they handled it much better than I expected.

That's one reason I'm passionate about encouraging people to prepare before fireworks season is in full swing.

What's your dog's biggest challenge with fireworks?

🐾 Shaking

🐾 Barking

🐾 Hiding

🐾 Pacing

🐾 Trying to escape

Or something else?

🐾 I had a pretty unexpected test for Chillax this week!

We had the roofs replaced on both our house and my facility. If you've ever had roofing done, you know how incredibly loud it is—constant pounding, people walking overhead, and lots of shouting between the crew.

Normally, my dogs would have been barking the entire time.

Before the work started, I gave them Chillax.

The difference was amazing. ❤️

They noticed the noise, but instead of barking nonstop, they relaxed and settled down. The only time they barked was when they heard the workers shouting to one another. As soon as the shouting stopped, they settled right back down again.

I was honestly impressed with how well they handled such a stressful day.

With fireworks season just around the corner, it reminded me how important it is to have a plan before all the loud noises begin.

Does your dog or cat get anxious during fireworks or thunderstorms?

06/12/2026

The Fourth of July is one of the busiest times of year for veterinarians and shelters. If your dog or cat struggles with fireworks, now is the time to start preparing—not July 3rd.

Does your dog or cat hide?
Shake?
Pace?
Bark?

After many wonderful years as a professional dog trainer, I've officially retired from offering regular training classes...but one thing hasn't changed—I still love helping dogs live happier, healthier lives.
While I'm stepping away from full-time training, I will still be offering occasional trick classes because teaching dogs and seeing the bond grow between pets and their people is something I'll never stop enjoying.
Over the years, I've learned that training is only one piece of the puzzle. Nutrition, gut health, enrichment, and emotional wellness all play a huge role in our dogs' quality of life.
That's why I've decided to partner with pawTree.
I'm excited to share training tips I've learned over the years, along with products I truly believe can help our furry family members thrive.
Whether you've followed me for years or you're new here, thank you for being part of this next chapter. I can't wait to continue helping you and your pets live happier, healthier lives. ❤️🐾
