I love asking people, “What tricks does your dog do?” Her answer was sit pretty. It’s fine if it’s a common trick, because it makes for a great photo, especially with the sun setting over the mountains.

There were lots of soft places to sit, but Rowboat chose to lie next to the prickliest cactus and then jump up on the highest rock. His family wasn't surprised, because he always chooses danger.
Rowboat is a tripod, missing one of his front legs. It's a mystery how that happened, but it has never slowed him down. See the last photo for the harness and leash that keep this daredevil safe during his photoshoot. He was wearing them in the first two photos too, and I retouched them out.

Otis's photo session took a little longer to happen than we expected. We had talked about photographing Otis in the mountains, but mountain locations come with their own challenges.

With their first baby on the way, Washington Park in Denver made a lot more sense. It gave us beautiful flowers without requiring a long drive into the mountains. Sometimes the best location is closer than you think.
